NOT my horse..... it has been offered to me. Have not gone to see it yet. I am juggling the thought. Horse fits what I like- papers, conformation, training- she has a cosmetic issue on one of her stifles. Price reflects it. Vet says looks like old injury and she flexes normal. I will absolutely not even consider her if she doesn't xray clean. However, what if she xrays clean? I'm just thinking about future..... would a horse that has a scar on a stifle be hard to sell even with good xrays? Current owner does not have xrays. Bred out the wazoo but I don't want to buy on the "can breed her or sell as broodmare if she doesn't work out" I'm thinking performance only.

If she x-rays clean, yes I would buy.

What kind of cosmetic issue? On the outside or inside?

I dealt with a stifle injury years ago, and they really freak me out. I am not a fan.

Cosmetic on the stifle would scare me for a performance horse. I would Xray and Ultrasound, that is a high motion joint and a lot goes on in that area...

Personally---I have never heard of a "cosmetic" stifle injury---bad joint to deal with. I would sure want to get her cheap enough to deal with future maintenance if it occurs.

If you think shes worth it, get the xrays and tests done. I cant see passing up on a good horse that fits your needs just because it has a scratch.  Yes, stifles worry me, but if she comes back clean? I would go for it. Has she had any issues from it in the past or currently? running different? soreness? all things to consider.

Depends on when it happened, the exact nature of "cosmetic" and her performance record since then...

If she literally scratched herself open as a youngster and bears a scar but has competed sound for years since and vets clean...sure.

If it happened 6 months ago and she hasn't been used much since...different sorry IMO.

I would have to see it myself. Things I'm learning that I don't play with are stifles and front feet. It depends on what is going on with the stifle and what the exam says.
