I'm getting a few winter project colts, that will likely need groceries. What is the most cost-effective feed plan to get a colt sale ready (Add Muscle). They will be getting lots of great quality alfalfa, suggestions on what else? TIA

I bought a gelding last year that came to me thin. I have 100 acres of great grazing and that helped but he just was not a big eater which is the first horse I have experienced like this, my others are pigs. I recently put him on THE muscle mass and now he eats great and looks even better. He gets1/2 scoop of oats with 2 cups of renew gold, all the alfalfa he wants, plus is out grazing. This was the same diet he was on prior to adding the THE. They are a GREAT company.

I do agree with THE MM. another product I've been having success with is Farnams weight gain. It's a white and green bucket.

When I bring one in to make it look show fit I use free choice quality grass hay and maybe a flake or two of alfalfa-especially if they have to be stalled at all. I give it to them in a slow feed hay net. I am pretty much getting away from grain, even with my show horse. He hasn't touched a bagged feed in over 3 yrs. I soak beet and alfalfa pellets and add THE Muscle Mass. I usually give Forco too. Got started on that yrs ago when I had an old horse that needed some help with his belly. Just kind of kept anything I have around the corral on it as well. They need exercise, even if you can just do some daily turnout where they can run and play and lots and lots of brushing. Natural hair brushes are above and beyond better than synthetic fibers. I have tons of little tips for sale day. The only hair/coat products I use are Eqyss-

biggest difference I have seen is when I started giving them free choice grass hay. They were making a mess but when I got the Hay chix nets that eliminated any mess and slowed them down. My little skinny horse is even "stocky" for him now.

ForeFront makes a great product called Fore74. It's a proven, safe, and affordable supplement to promote and build muscle mass.

I've had the best luck with unlimited hay, tribute Kalm Ultra, and DAC bloom and oil. It plumps all the underweight kids right up! i swear by it!
