I noticed my horse's leg was cold from the fetlock down on her right hind and she wasn't putting much weight on that leg. X-rays came back clean on the lower leg. Through palpation the vet figured a fracture or partial fracture to her tuber sacrale and prescribed equioxx for 30 days with a minimum 6 wks stall rest. The horse is okay as long as she's standing but when she lays down it's a struggle getting her up and she makes me worry. Has anyone else dealt with this type of injury? Is there anything else you did to help the healing and manage pain, etc.? Did they go on to have a career after healing? I'm going on two weeks of stall rest and haven't seen much improvement. I've also noticed she seems sucked in at the flanks and sensitive if I touch although she's eating and drinking. I haven't found much information about this type of injury online.

give it more time. If it is what I think it is, I bet it is a slow process. If she is eating and drinking and on an anti inflammatory you are doing what you can.

Prayers for your girl---we are taking Sean's big Paint to Batesville Thursday for what our local vet diagnosed as a hairline fracture in his right front in Dec. Followed his protocol, but Sonny seems to have regressed from doing better in Aug. He's always been our go to guy if someone wanted to ride but knew NOTHING about horses, so I'm sure hoping Dr Hopkins can help us get him fixed. . .
