Location: Illinois | Has anyone ever had a saddle that slips forward while riding? My 3 year old is an inch downhill right now, she just went up in the hip so we're waiting for the front to go up soon. However when I work her my saddle slides forward onto her shoulders. It seems to fit her correctly when it's on her back without the pad. I'm thinking she may need a thicker pad, it's a wide tree and I only have one pad right now. Anyone have any thoughts? |

| I was having problems with my saddle sliding forward on my one gelding, he is 9 yrs 14.3 at the wither, 15.1 at the hip... I got him a total saddle fit cinch and actually got a thinner pad (saddleright) and I haven't had any problems. |

Location: North Dakota | What about trying to shim the saddle for the time being? If your saddle is wide enough with some wiggle room, it may help while she levels out. |

Location: Illinois | I don't have the back cinch on with her, she's never had one and I've just had her a couple weeks with 2 rides. I'll put the back cinch back on. It shifts when she's moving, I lunged her with it for a week while she was missing a front shoe and by the time she makes 2 circles its up on her shoulders again. I started it back farther the other day and it still slid up. I can try shimming it, I have some thin shims that go inside the pad. I just hate to do a whole lot or spend a bunch of money on fixes when her body is about to change again. She went up in the butt, filled her butt out quite a bit, so I'm assuming her front end will follow soon. But I'll try to shim it tonight and see what happens |

Location: South Georgia | If it slides that much, that quickly (2 laps lunging), then I'd wonder if your saddle wasn't far too wide? |

Location: Illinois | I think it is too wide, but I'm not purchasing another saddle until I see how she grows/fills out. She went up an inch in the back end right before I purchased her and her front is still waiting to follow, but since I bought her she's filled out a lot in her hip. She had a racy, lanky kind of hip and now its filled out like a good QH hip (if that makes sense). Its gotten wider too, she's got an ass too big for her front now. So she's going to grow and fill out in the front at some point, hence why I don't want to spend thousands on a new saddle that may not work in a few months. Plus my pad is thin because the one I run had hulk shoulder blades and with the LM wide fit he needs a 1/2" pad. I think if I just add thickness, it will help maintain her while she keeps growing. I have an underpad I'll put under the CSI and see if that helps. She has a cut under her belly right now, so I'm not putting a girth over it. |

Saddle is too big and she is currently down hill so there isnt much you can do other than a good clean saddle pad, girth and rear cinch. Make sure it is all clean so it has good grip and do the best you can. |
