What is your opinion on Jim Warner Hacks? I have not ridden in a hack for YEARS! My first barrel horse rode in one years ago and worked amazing in it. Proโs and Conโs... because I know there is a lot of controversy over the Hackamore and running with one. Just doing a little research.
Edit to add if you are a Hackamore person which one do you prefer and reason why. I know thereโs a lot out there.. Jim Warner, Stivers and etc..

I started using a hackamore last year and it has been a successful change and I am very happy with the hackamore and how my horse now performs. I believe it was a Jim Warner but can't remember. There were 2 options, a long shank and a short. I have the short. My horse is very broke so i don't worry about him running off or any silly business. I only use it when I compete. I ride him in a Cervi bit when I train because the hackamore makes my horse front end heavy and I loose the leverage on his shoulders. So I use the bit to work him in but if I make a competition run, he only wears the hack. I recommend at least trying it.

I like the Jim Warner and the Clampitt. They have a different feel than any other hackamore.

I started using the goostree hackamore. Love it! It has alot of feel to it. It doesnt rub on the horse's nose and doesnt have any dead spots. It looks really harsh when ya pull it out of the packaging but its not rough on the horse. I can get alot of flex out of it.

I used it on my mare when she got a bit "over bendy"...I used it for a while and it helped her a lot. I then switched back to my running bit. The hack seems to make them a bit stiff....I have both the Jim Warner and the little S hack, I like them both.

I also have the Jim Warner short shank hack. I had a mare that would just grab the bit and try to run off with you. Didn't matter if she was in a snaffle or really bitted up...she knew how to grab that thing haha. So a month after I got her, I had put so many long hour days on her, trying to wear her out and settle her down, she was the type that would just run herself in to the ground though. Someone recommended the Jim W hack, so I ordered it. WORLD of difference! Since she had nothing to grab, she worked like an absolute doll in it <3 I even put my bf on her that has ridden maybe 3x haha. Plus, I love how the shanks swivel so you still have some bend!
