Veteran Posts: 255 Location: Alberta Canada	We use a massager regularly when competing. It really helps to relieve tight muscles when competing & hauling. Biggest thing when introducing a horse to one is to start out on the lowest setting & on the larger muscles at first til they get used to it.

My boys love getting worked on and fall asleep right at the trailer when shes doing it. At first they weren't too sure about what she was doing but once they realized it feels good they love her haha

I certainly think what a therapist does is way better! My problem with the handhelds is they just vibrate and dont kneed. But maybe it is a good alternative, hope so!

Location: South Dakota	I don't have a massager, but I do basic level Masterson Method, and it sure is a good way to release tension. Not hard to do, but it takes time....if I feel stressed, it is a great way me to decompress as I work on my horse.

Right! i tried a thumper before and the results just weren't the same. I can tell they really like when my friend works on them. Especially because she can determine how deep to work the muscle! It helps she showed me a TON of things i can do on them so i can keep up on them too. I think good ol fashioned ways sometimes are the best!
