I have a mare that runs on 3ml of lasix. I have tried bleeder stop and she bleed thru it. Trying to find some other alternatives to lasix. Dont like the way she runs in the hot Oklahoma summers.Pros/cons on race today.

If your horse is a true bleeder there is no other alternatives to lasix besides kentucky red. By using herbal products and not lasix you are causing more harm then using lasix. A lot of the bleeder "AID" supplements are just that.. an aid to be used with lasix but there is no scientific proof it even helps other then pull money out of your pocket book. 3cc of lasix is a low dose. If your horse does fine on it I suggest you keep them on it. If not find yourself a good electrolyte supplement so your horse can recover the lost electrolytes after a dose of lasix. A lot of hores need to be on electolytes 2 to 3 days after a dose of lasix.

I have not tried race today personally but am considering switching. I have a friend on it and she loves it. Her bleeder used to bleed out when he bled and would be BAD. She now
(if I remember right
) doesn't have to run on Lasix with it, where on bleeder stop she was still giving some lasix. I love the bleeder stop but I have a bleeder that before bleeder stop was bleeding through 5cc of Lasix so I am scared to try to run without Lasix. I have lowered my dose to 4cc and she has done ok. I am hesitant to get off cause she bleeds back and other than coughing and sneezing I have no way of knowing.
I do give mine the summer off cause Texas summers are just as hot as Oklahoma summers and the humidity kills even me. I am just now bringing her back from her vacation and will run her till late May/early June next year
(depending on how quick it gets hot
).
I do use the electrolyte paste that Vetline makes. I use it a day before I race, Triple Threat before I run, and 2 days electrolytes after.
If you do switch to race today please PM me and let me know your results as I would love another opinion as well. I JUST bought my 5 month container of bleeder stop so I won't be switching for a while.

I am an Oxy-Gen dealer. I have a customer who is using Bleeder Stop and Immunize daily. She runs her horse on O2 and Race-X. She slowly weaned her horse off lasix and she has not bled and yes she did scope her. Oxy-Pulmon is also a new supplement very similar to O2 and a MUCH cheaper alternative. Not all horses are the same and I understand there are variations of bleeding intensity but there are some Oxy-Gen options that could definitely help.

Most of the bleeding supplements are simply vitamin K.
