Location: Somewhere around here | I'm currently riding my horse in hacks and trying to find the best one for him out there. He can get a little pushy, especially when I'm asking for a run, but no matter what I do he gets marks on his face from the rope. I've put vet wrap and seal tex on them and it works a little bit but then I also lose some of that help I need to rate him. He also has a larger head so the hack sits on him without much bounce or movement.
I've ridden him in a S Hack, which is what we currently are using for slow work, a Jim Warner and a Stop and Turn. I personally don't like my JW hack because of how it flips, it will try flipping to the up position while I'm riding and it just puts too much pressure on his nose constantly and I'm not able to give him a clear signal. And he really didn't like the Stop and Turn.
So I'm currently looking at buying a Stivers, a ladybug, a Greg Dutton hackamore & wrapping it, and a metal nosed Jim Warner. I'm also considering buying a combo Johnson Hackamore but I really don't think he needs it. Maybe a Clampitt but I don't know how my horse would work with a chain nose. Any tips or suggestions would help.

| We have a mare who would honestly run best in a halter as she is so sensitive so we don't need control per say but she does best in the leather nosebands. |

| I really like the Bozo. By far my favorite nose band of al time is the original Ugly. But they are almost impossible to find now. The Bozo is just below the Ugly on my list. |

And I heard that the Bozo is for pretty light horses that don't need much help. Idk if that's something I'd put on a strong horse that likes to go, but I guess there's no harm in trying it if I can borrow one. |

Sorry I meant we run the mare in a hack with a leather noseband. I mentioned the halter because we don't need the control aspect like you referred to but shes super sensitive in the face and the leather nose band vs rope makes her happier |

Location: In My Own Dream Land | I run a very go go mare in a hack.. Chain Wright Hack actually, but started out in a ?Bozo. I exercise her and warm her up in a wire tie down and 3 piece port bit. She is extrememly sensitive but I have plenty of whoa and bend in a hack for her. She is just too much on the muscle to ride outside and warming up in something that light. |
