Location: Probably On the Road to the Next Barrel Race! | A friend has a horse she doesn't ride a whole lot, mostly pasture n a few trail shows. For the last year, he seems to cough every time he is exercised (2-3x/wk at most)...light exercise. Seems to have gotten progressively worse over last year. Occasionally he coughs in pasture. We live in East TX, a known spot for horrible allergies...I've heard Cough Ease or Cough Free can help?...ANY ideas on those products, or any other thoughts are deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance!! |

Location: Austin, Texas | i just recently had the same issue. It turned out to be a bad tooth.. It was infected and draining. Vet had to pull the tooth. I just picked him up from vet for this issue a few weeks ago. He also had drainage and it smelled really bad |

| You could try that but I would suggest getting him scoped if she is not seeing any improvement. There is a condition that causes swelling and scarring in the cicatrix, symptoms are coughing, prevalent in Texas, the scarring will eventually restrict breathing too the point they need a trachea. |

Location: CTX | My boy was doing the same thing, coughing 2-3 times when warming up and then warmed up out of it, then 2 months ago he didn't warm up out of it.... kept coughing and also after the run... so gave him some time off and had a BAL done on him. Turns out he did show sings of bleeding.... so I will have to start running him on lasix.
I would take not chances and have at least a BAL done on him to make sure. |

Trust me on this....I've tried it all, including thousands spent at the vet on multible scopes, washes, medications, etc. What you have is trash in the upper airways, and if you have trash there, it's likely in the lung as well. Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Bleeding, tooth problem,allergies,possible stick stuck in back of throat,hay lodged in back of cheeks/molding,choking on beet stuck in throat. Have vet do a mouth check toward back of throat for any of these. Then put on Forco /probiotic Vitamin C.,to help get back on track.
