Location: SW North Dakota | For those of you who use Runner's relief, I have a couple of questions:
1) do you NEED to wrap with it, or can you just slather it on like a regular poultice? 1a) If you don't wrap, do you need to wash it off in 12 hours? (It's 12 degrees here in the morning) 2) Do you mix it with water or ACV?
I have 2 tubs sitting in my tack room, but haven't even opened the box. Any other tips/tricks would be helpful. Planning to use it for an inflamed check ligament in a front leg.
Thanks in Advance! |

| I always wrapped it, I bought cheap disposable diapers, cut them in half and used an ace elastic bandage till it wore out. Very easy, I put a spoonful in the diaper, rubbed it in on the leg then wrapped, no gloves needed and diaper has the plastic backing. I never washed it off. |

| I use quilts and standing wraps with mine. No washing off.
I do like the diaper idea. Less messy for sure! |

Do you have to wrap?
The jar says to wrap. That's why I do. I assume there is a reason for it or it wouldn't be on the jar? But you could always call and ask? |

Location: SW North Dakota | Here are the directions...
Directions for use:
•Before applying Runner's Relief Poultice, remove all previous medication, chemicals, and foreign matter by washing the area thoroughly.
•Apply a liberal amount of Runner's Relief Poultice evenly over the area to be treated and cover with a cotton quilt, plastic (saran) wrap, standing bandage (polo wrap) and leave for 12 hours.
•After 12 hours, remove by washing the area and leave off for 12 hours; repeat treatment six days a week leaving one day of non-treatment.
For those of you who don't rinse, do you just remove the wrap after 12 hours, then repeat?

Since it has gotten colder, I just wet a rag and wipe the leg good when I remove wraps. Let it air dry for 12 hours, then repeat. |

| There are 2 runners relief products a poultice you smear on and a soak, I've only used the poultice and no you don't have to wrap, but IMO you get the most out of the product by wrapping it. I've used it 3-4 months now and have just wiped off the leg after removing the wrap on days I don't have time to wash it and have not had any issues or irritation.
I do always give the full 12 hrs a day off without a wrap to let the leg "air out".

Yes, I wrapped at night, off during the day and I wiped the excess off when I unwrapped. I was rehabbing a suspensory so wrapped for several months, why I used diapers and an ace bandage-cheaper and easier, and I wrapped for 5 days a week. I never had any irritation. |

Location: SW North Dakota | Excellent. Thank you all. I have the poultice, and bought it before reading the directions... which sounded like a PITA in cold months. It would appear that I can get by without making a skating rink from the garden hose! :) Much appreciated. We are trying to avoid surgery on an inflammed check ligament. |

Location: Texas | I followed the label instructions and thought it worked well. It did make mine blister finally but I think I wrapped her pretty religiously for two months. She recovered from her suspensory strain and went on to do well. |
