Who knows, we'll see.  But I hate seeing this issue getting out of control.  So much is true that anything that throws doubt is a disservice to real victims.

Well, it's not like he faces any legal repercussions. This was almost 40 years ago. The woman is 53. What is her motive? The timing of this raises some serious questions in my mind. So if she can't press charges, and she can't win some lawsuit, what motives remain?
Of course there are some women who have come out and claimed he was hitting on them. They were around 18. He was single and 32.
He's guilty till proven innocent in today's world.

I can only think of one plausible motive: politics and money.

Maybe she just feels that she does not want the person who was inappropriate with her to be in such an important political position.

Maybe she just feels that she does not want the person who was inappropriate with her to be in such an important political position.Β

He was a justice on the Alabama Supreme Court. If that is her reason, that falls flat. She should have come out when he was on the bench.
My reasons for being suspicious of this is threefold:
1.) the source....WaPo.
2.) the timing....4 weeks before the election.
3.) the fact that she didn't say anything while he was practically a celebrity on the bench in Alabama.

I normally don't get involved in anything political but this is just ridiculous. I am independent so I try to see both sides of each story. I have got to say this...what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you are going to throw mud at one party for an issue, you best be throwing the mud at your own also. Just because you have an R or a D by your name doesn't make it okay for wrong doings in your party but not in the other.

they probably can't

but the don't have to. All they have to do is make the accusation and let the doubt fester.

News? As in Faux News?

The guy is a racist, sexist, bigoted homephobe. But the people of Alabama already knew all that when they nominated him. He will win the election because that's what the voters want in office. We have a president void of all morals. What difference does one more senator make?

There was a time when the voters cared about the moral fabric of elected officials. That time has passed.

You must be taking a trip down your yellow dog lane, like the 90s when the "moral fabric" of Bill Clinton was impeccable.....right?

That was a rich comment there, JD.

How does the fact that Clinton was a flawed man change the facts of today? And it turns out that the loudest critics of Clinton's personal life were, and are, far worse than he ever was.

Drug addicts like Rush Dumbaugh. Sex addicts and abusers like O'Reiley, Hannity, Ailes, Steve Duchebag. I could on but there's no need.

A person that wants to excuse the behavior of guys like Trump and Roy Moore will find reasons to excuse them.

Trump is a master politician. He has learned how to tap into the hatred in people's souls that most don't talk about in this PC world.

But, I don't really care about Trump's idiotic thinking and talking points if he can do the job he was elected to do. As long as he's doing illegal things.

I want him to cut my taxes. I want him to get healthcare on the right track. I want him to create a stable immigration program. I don't want him to start a nuclear war.

The whole argument for Trump now seems to be that "he's better than Hillary". OK, I'll give them that. Is that the bar?

Let's go back to Clinton as President. Was he wrong to cheat on his wife? Absolutely! Just as any man is that does. Did he do a good job as President?

I certainly never liked NAFTA but the GOP did. But, Clinton inherited more debt that had been run up by Reagan and Daddy W than had been created from Washington thru Carter combined. He not only settled that debt, he left W with a surplus.

Of course W quickly put things back where his daddy and Reagan had it.

And this is not a debate. No one changes anyone's minds with internet ponderings.

The hypocrisy is astounding though when people talk about morals and then support a man with absolutely no morals for president.

And then he doesn't have anything accomplished to at least give pause as to why he was elected. Where's the wall? Where's ending Obamacare? Where's the tax cuts? He's got a GOP house and senate. He's got a right wing supreme court. Yet, one year in and he's done nothing!!

Oh but!! He ain't Hillary!!

First of all, JD&EZ, you are the one who decided to turn this into a debate about Democrats versus Republicans when you segued into your selective scathing, error-filled remarks. I'll come back to that later, but let's talk about Judge Moore. I don't know the guy. He achieved national notoriety because he fought to block the removal of a Ten Commandments monument from public property. I commend him for that. As to the accusation, I don't know if he's guilty or not, but if he is, shame on him....he should not be elected. I'm not at all convinced he's guilty of anything here, but I'm very suspicious of the veracity of these claims. After 40 years, 30 of which was spent in public office, and after several elections, this accusation is made public at the precise time when he cannot be removed from the ballot even if he drops out. Only a write-in campaign stands in the way of electing his Democrat opponent, and that is essentially impossible, on such short notice. So this accusation is conjured up and revealed at the most politically opportune time....I suspect the WaPo is behind this masterful timing......but hey, maybe it is simply a matter of political serendipity? It sounds to me that this 70 year old man had a particular fondness for younger women back when he was a young, single man. I'm guessing he is guilty of that. Maybe he dated young ladies in their late teens and early 20's. While that may be unseemly, it certainly does not rise to the level of some crime, particularly 40 years after the fact. As to the incident alleged with the 14 year old, Judge Moore simply cannot prove his innocence, and that's what we have here. We have this accusation and we have corroborating heresay from women, at least one of whom actively campaigning for his political opponent. I need more than that to be convinced that he is/was the predator he is made out to be. Typically, men guilty of this kind of alleged crime, don't have just one isolated incident. They tend to continue their assaults on victims throughout their life until they are convicted and put behind bars. They don't simply decide to stop on their own, as long as they keep getting away with it. So far, with Judge Moore, nothing like that has emerged. I'm quite sure the WaPo is busy dragging $100 bills through the trailer parks, however, so we shall see. That expression, by the way, was popularized by James Carville when Bill Clinton's accusers were emerging.....little political trivia there.

As to your other random flights of ideas concerning Bill Clinton, the national debt, and so forth, I think some of your facts require a little revision. I think you sanitized Bill's peccadillos by stating he "cheated on his wife". Since mere accusations seems to be the standard in this discussion, fair is fair. Let's compare and contrast Bill and Roy's alleged transgressions, shall we?
On the one hand, we have a 70 year old man who was a horny single attorney 40 years ago and probably attracted a lot of younger women just as much as he was attracted to them. I think it's fair to say that scenario remains a common occurrence to this day, where it's easy to imagine the allure of a single, "mature", handsome, successful professional 30 year old man. I am guessing a fair number of 18-20 year old women would find that hard to resist. It's easy to imagine those other younger women falling under this category. As to the allegation of the 14 year old, I don't see the evidence. There's no pattern of behavior there to back up this claim of predatory sexual crimes, and only heresay, which is about as reliable as rumors.
Now, the guy might be a hypocrite who hides behind a religious facade. If that's his flaw, then he is perfectly suited for office in the United States Senate, where hypocrites seem to be in abundance and thrive.
Now on the other hand, there's Bill Clinton, the one time leader of the free world and standard bearer of your Democrat party, whose wisdom, guidance, and political acumen is so heavily relied upon. His list of accusers has been conveniently ignored by the mainstream media and the lemmings of the Democrat party. His alleged crimes are more than "cheating on his wife", as you put it. He has been accused of sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, and even pedophilia (23 trips on the "Lolita Express"). In his case, the PATTERN has been established, and the proof of his guilt has been backed up by more than an isolated allegation that is 40 years old. Names like Jennifer Flowers, Kathleen Willy, Juanita Broderick, and Monica Lewinski come to mind.
Oh, and one other thing. You were wrong....Bill Clinton did not lower the national debt. You need to clarify your remarks before regurgitating them. The national debt increased by $1.6 Trillion during his presidency. I think you were trying to describe the budget deficit, which was turned into a budget surplus for two years. Even that can be argued was attributed to two main factors: 1.) Republican majorities in both houses, since it is congress who largely effects the budget, and 2.) an economic boom of technology in the 90's which led to tremendous economic growth in the markets.....and consequently increased tax revenues to the fed, as originally championed by JFK and Ronald Reagan.
I'll stop there.

His home state is supporting him.  One of the women accusing him of being a sexual predator worked for/with Hillary during the campaign.  All the earmarks of a Dem hit job.

Vickie, I'm not going to insult your intelligence by suggesting you actually believe what you wrote.
I will suggest you go back and read what I wrote again, but read a little slower this time. Just because I don't follow the WaPo-inspired mob and grab a pitchfork doesn't mean I "support" Roy Moore.
I did not say I support him. I said that I don't know if he's guilty or not, but if he is, shame on him.....he should not be elected.
Now, how in the hell does that statement indicate I am a Roy Moore supporter.
I wasn't the first to bring up Bill Clinton. You can thank fellow liberal JD&EZ for bringing him into the discussion, replete with inaccuracies. Since he did bring up Clinton I took the opportunity to cite him as an example of someone who also was accused of crimes, which I listed. His alleged crimes make Roy Moore look like the Dali Llama, yet he remains the highly adored, wise old leader of the Democrat party. I merely found the contrast to be almost amusing.
Now as to your implication that I brought Obama into this discussion, all I can say is go back and read what I wrote. I didn't mention him.

Two women came out and said he groped them. One was 16 at the time. He admitted to it and said he sometimes does that as a joke.

Another woman came forward about Roy Moore. Hopefully his goose is cooked but I am sure there are those out there that do not see a problem with what he did.
