I have never been there, but we want to take a trip this winter to get away from the cold! I have an old friend that lives in Apache Junction. Actually, wanted to check out the area of possibly moving down there permanently!! But scared of change LOL. I'm hoping to book flights in Feb/March

What do you need to know?? There's plenty of things going on now. It's been 75 degrees with lots of sunshine.

I'm looking to come end of Feb...wondering what are some things to check out, and if there are any websites to search for jobs/housing/boarding horses too. I know nothing about the area . Thanks.

websites for barrel races ... www.theclassifiedhorse.com

Boarding depends on which side of town you want to live on and what kind of amenities you're looking for. Southwest valley (buckeye area) would be the SouthBuckeye Equestrian Center, Northwest ... used to be called Dunns but it's called something else. East valley, Welcome Home Ranch. Welcome Home Ranch is a full service facility. There are lots of "back yard" places ... craigslist sometimes has them. Full service facilities cost more but have everything taken care of ... ground is always nice, horse is fed, someone lives on-sight. That kinda stuff. As for jobs, the usual places, indeed.com is a website that comes to mind.

Summers are HOT and we've had little to no rain this year. I've only had to blanket my horse a few nights when it dipped below 42 or so. Winters are amazing and makes putting up with the heat worth it.

If you live further north, you can have more seasonal weather. Flagstaff is nice but more expensive. If you want to live south of the Phoenix area, there is Tucson and places in between, sorta (Maricopa, Casa Grande) that are less expensive than Phoenix or Tucson but have less job opportunities. Lots of horse properties and room in Maricopa and Casa Grande. South East valley area with horse property is the San Tan Valley. Although that's getting crowded with subdivisions.

I guess you need to visit and decide where you might light to work first.

Not sure, but was told recently, no full care, it's all self care at South Buckeye.  If there are pens or stalls available at Double T (formally) Dunns, I'd try there.
