Location: Arizona | Generally, the good winter riding boots are not great for walking around in snow and ice and the good walking boots stink for riding. I have yet to find boots that work well for both. The Kenetrek Cowboy Pacs are awesome for winter riding, but the soles are still too slick to do much walking around. Mucks are better for walking. I have a pair of Lacrosse winter boots that are very similar to Mucks that I love, I'm on my third winter with them. The soles are too aggressive to ride in though. I tried once and it drove me insane - I couldn't make minor adjustments to my feet in the stirrups; every time I tried to lift my foot and adjust where I was putting weight the tread just pulled my foot deeper into the stirrup, and I couldn't get my foot out without pulling the stirrup off by hand.Β |

Location: Southern Indiana | I like my ariat terrains. I wear them with thick wool socks and they are plenty warm. Very comfy. Great to wear every day at the barn. I bought some of the slip on tennis shoes too. Love them. |

| I wear my Muck chore boots pretty much every day in the winter, unless it gets horrible out- then I wear my Whiteβs Winter PACs. They make a Cowgirl and Cowboy (for riding), Elk (made for hunting), steel toed ones, etc. Theyβre based out of Spokane, WA and you can have a pair custom made to your feet or just buy a premade pair. Theyβre a godsend! Leather uppers with wool blend liners, fantastic traction and a riding heel. Theyβre a little spendy, but absolutely worth it as they have a lifetime guarantee and are completely rebuildable if they fall apart! |
