Crappy weather here in VT today, it was 60 degrees yesterday and it's 2 degrees right now with snow, ice and freezing rain!
Looking to hear some recommendations on fly sprays and shampoo. I used Quic Black shampoo last summer and I didn't really care for it. Didn't really seem to bring out his dark color or clean him well. Any good recommendations that really deep clean and bring out the shine?
Also, I've seen a lot of fly sprays that claim to last 14 days, and I know that's probably not true. What have been your favorites that seem to last? Also, anyone try the drops that last 2 weeks?

Yesterday it was below zero and now its about 40 out...Montana always has wicked temperature changes. Tuesday of this week it went from 49 down to about 20 in matter of about 4 hours, and was below zero by the next morning.  Like needmocash2 says, about 74 degree temp change, LOL.

I've never had a fly spray last more than a day let along 2 weeks. I don't know if our flies and mosquitoes just don't give up, but I've tried the better brands of fly sprays and not had them work any better than the cheaper ones.

But I'm going nuts dreaming of summer! I just want to go get on my horses and start legging them up. I'm hoping February evens out and I can get a start. I have my gelding going to a barrel trainer in March, so that is pretty exciting!

Beyondddd ready for summer up here! its been in the negatives for almost a month straight. Its started warming up this past weekend, so im hoping i can take my boys off winter break and start legging them back up!
As far as shampoos go, i always use whats leftover from my house.
My boyfriend always jokes i spend more money on the horses shampoo than i do my own. Now he cant anymore hahah  Plus the pantene makes them smell soooo good. hehe  I have a palomino and a sorrel, the Quicksilver works AMAZING for my pally.
As far as fly sprays, i dont think ive found any that i dont have to spray everyday before they go out. I think its just  how bad the flies are that day. Ive tried the most expensive and the good ol Amish made mixture always seems to work the best. I havent tried the drops but have been thinking about trying them this summer.

I don't wash my horse with shampoo very often.  When I do, I use a soft brush to really scrub into the hair and get down to the skin because some of that dirt is tough!
My go-tos are Mane N tail, one I can't remember but I won it, and then White N Brite Shampoo for light coats.
Never had a problem with shine on any of them.   The best fly-spray I've found lately is the yellow bottle of Pyrahna.   I do use the Repel-X concentrate that you mix for the "cheap" stuff to use daily in the summer.  I just can't bring myself to spend that much on probably 2 bottles a week for the expensive stuff that really doesn't last much longer anyways!
It's currently 53 degrees.  Supposed to be 30 by evening with who knows what for precipitation.  Good news is that it's supposed to be back above freezing the rest of the week and 50s Thurs and Friday again!
