| Have any of you had experience with a horse with these bloodlines as a barrel horse?Wanting to hear of experiences. I've heard alot about Peppy San Badger horses but he's quite a few generations back

That horse should be in the cutting pen, or on cows, but those are the kind of lines I have ran a lot and some of them make Awesome barrel horses. You should certainly have the turn and ability there! I would def give him a try, I never pass up a good bred cow/cutting horse for barrels. |

Going to blame the stripe because I’ve got 2 PSB’s in the barn who are both great to be around. One being a 4 year old colt with 120 days on him, green but willing and wanting to please, despite almost no handling until 7mo ago, the other being my good horse whose well on his way to being wicked roping and running barrels. We have a 3rd Mr San Peppy bred clocking in the open 3D with my 10 year old niece who’s done all his barrel work.
If he was a year or 2 older and started we’d be interested in him for the right money. |

This also, not to discourage anyone but my good psb colt could bronc like no ones business, but he was peptoboonsmal also had one or two of them that had the same characteristics. The PSB is pretty far back in yours but like I said they make the best all around horses, please give him a try I bet you won’t be disappointed. |

Aren't PSB horses suspect of PSSM? Lots of issues there. |

| Old foundation blood horses and yes bred mostly for cows but know a lot of jam up barrel horses bred this way.
I have personally ridden many PSB horses and they are gritty. They can be a bit difficult but most of mine are doc bar also which I believe to be the common denominator. Doesn't shy me away one bit because of how talented they are. |

| Any horse can be a barrel horse thanks to the D system. As long as the horse is structurally correct and balanced with a good mind, they have potential. Typically though the smaller, cowbreds tend to do better in small pens where you need quick feet more than sheer speed. |

| My 1D/2D gelding is PSB and he is a little quirky, but has more grit than about 10 horses. I would give it a go. |

Location: California | We have two PSB geldings. One bucked everyone off until he was well over the age he should LOL. Reining horse broke though and work a cow like no other. He is now 16 and my breakaway horse as well as my boyfriends heel horse and pick up horse. I also have a 4 year old colt. Dog gentle, puppy dog, quiet, wants to be broke - until one day he decided to get it on and bucked the guy off and broke his shoulder. Now he is mine. He bucke every day for awhile after that... and it was 6 times in one 2 hour ride. No rhyme or reason - just seemed to be for the fun of it. He seems to be over it now but he **** sure went through a phase and his phase was no joke. I am sure it will come back again one of theses days LOL. I wouldn't hestitate to own more by any means but I also don't mind a little buck. |

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | a friend of mine has a PSB mare and shes just as evil as can be. Hot hot hot. not real fun to be around. she works hard and runs about solid 3d times, super catty, but that attitude just turns me away. Thats really the only PSB horse ive spent real time around so i hope it was just her and not them all. lol |

Not really trying to argue here, but my Peppy San gelding http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/jrs+lenas+letta+pep is 14 hands with shoes on and he's better in bigger (15-16 second patterns) arenas than in tiny traps. His footwork is amazing but he's so ratey that it's almost impossible to be clean on him in a 13 second pattern.
Fred's not a bucker (he tried once last week and it barely even qualified as a crowhop) nor is he crazy. He won a good amount of rodeo money last summer in the outdoor pens with crappy ground because he can stand up on anything. I'm looking forward to having him in my trailer this summer again!
