Location: Montana | This is the saddle I used to use on the chestnut horse and am currently using on the grey horse. I'm considering upgrading saddles, but would like some opinions on the way this saddle fits both of these horses so I can see who needs the upgrade! LOL. This saddle is a Courts barrel saddle, according to the manufacturer it is a 7" gullet with fqhb. The pics are with the saddle on and off both horses without pad so you can see how it fits and the shape of their backs.
Disclaimer: yes, I know my horses are out of shape. It has been winter here and they have had half of December off and all but one day of January off due to cold temps and icy/snowy conditions and we are just starting to get back to work.

Location: South Georgia | I'm not an expert, but to me it looks too wide on the gray so it is slumping down in front and popping up in back, and its too narrow on sorrel so you see pinching and hair marks up front. |

| Too wide on both of them in the gullet IMO. The bars are pinching the sorrel farther down

Location: Montana | Thanks, I thought it was dumping down on my grey horse, but wanted an unprejudiced opinion, so I didn't give my thoughts. I'll take pics of my other saddle on my chestnut horse and see how it compares, as that is what I mainly ride her in. Its a Reinsman Marlene with the flex tree, and I KNOW its too wide on my grey. I wish they made a one size fits all saddle! LOL. |

| I personally do not hate how this saddle fits either one. Could it be better? Yes. But it's not horrible. Is this where the saddle falls into place naturally on each horse or do you have it placed a little bit forward? I can see what the other poster is talking about on your grey, there is some rock to it. I bio-fit pad or something similar or using shims to build up the front would take care of that. My two cents. |

When my mare is in shape, this saddle fits her way better, but I have a different saddle I mainly use on her. I didn't think it was terrible, I did see it dip down on the grey, so was thinking about trying a different pad any ways (I have a Prof Choice I've been using, and tried an Impact Gel yesterday). So, you think I could get away with using the Courts on the grey with a Biofit pad or maybe a CSI pad? If so, that's the best news I've heard so far today! |

Location: North Dakota | It's not a terrible fit on the grey. Maybe just a little bit too wide in the gullet (the bar angle doesn't seem to look too bad), but it is sitting slightly downhill, with the back coming up slightly. You may be able to make it work with a small shim.
But the chestnut, I think the bar angle looks too narrow (and it's sitting downhill too). Not much you can do with padding to fix that. |

Location: Montana | I bought a Biofit pad today (won't have it here for probably 2 weeks though) to use on my grey with that saddle, so I'm hoping that works. If not I'll try a CSI maybe. I put my other saddle on my mare today and took pics, it sits so much more level on her, even I could see the difference! I'm thinking maybe I won't change saddles now that I know what I need!

I thought so too, although I'm looking for a saddle to fit the grey. I did the first saddle for comparison, more or less. |
