That is what my daughter asked for her birthday. I will have to ask her about the results.

We have used it a few times within the past year at my barn. All the horses have eaten it really well. We haven't used it long term just for a bag or two depending what was going on. It really does put a shine on them and helps give them a bloom on some. I am planning to try it on a mare I am riding right now that has consistent looser stools. I am hoping I have the same good results with her that we have seen with other horses.

FYI and please, someone correct me if I am wrong, but Redmonds Daily Gold is just their Redmond Conditioner packaged in an "equine" specific bag and sold for more $$$. A 50 lb bag of the conditioner is cheaper than the 5 lb bag of Daily Gold. Look at the ingredients...and i am not bashing it as I am currently using it myself.

Ya it looks like the same stuff. Very slightly different Calcium and Phosphorus levels but everything else looks the same. If I was using it on several horses and wanted that much product I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it that way. I only go through a bag or two per horse and haven’t had to reuse it on any horse so I don’t need all that sitting around but it is definitely a better value!

I had a horse get a mild impaction colic on it. My vet oiled him and what came out the other side looked like Clay. Vet attributed it to the supplement. I was feeding this horse the max dose recommended but NOT more than that. Its possible he just didn't utilize and absorb it well who knows. But it sure helped him with his symptoms! Vet suggested just lowering the dosage but I switched to the curost stomach formula and he was perfect after that.

This is almost my exact experience. It does seem to help with the tummy issues but I have not fed it long term. I will add that my horses coat color for all 3 looks a lot better when they have a Redmond rock in their pens. Β

This product is Bentonite from a deposit that Redmond owns in Utah. For years, bentonite was only thought to be a useful aid in pelleting some feeds. In more recent years it has been found to bind some toxins and move them out of the digestive system. I use it in formulation, and really like it in limited amounts.

My guy wouldn't eat it.

A lot of horses will not eat it alone, but don't mind it mixed in with something that they like.

It's pretty popular up here in the PNW but I just can't bring myself to force-feed toxic metals to my horses.  It will be interesting to see if horses fed this longterm have any ill effects.

I don't need to defend Redmond, but, there is a lot of clinical evidence showing that bentonite actually removes heavy metals from the system. There is lead in Bentonite, but, since the clay is negatively charged and almost all heavy metals, including lead, are positively charged, the miniscule amount of lead found in bentonite is not bioavailable to the body. Just the opposite in fact. Heavy metals are bound up with the clay, which is not digestible, and carried out of the body. We are exposed to lead in everything from lipstick to grain. That found in bentonite however can not be absorbed by the horse. Bentonite filters are used by chemical companies to remove toxins and heavy metal.

Just an FYI...Don't give it along with any other supplements at the same time. Give one in the morning and the other at night.

I was told straight from the company this only applies to pharmaceuticals and dewormers. Dewormers though they said quit it a few days before and wait a few days after deworming to give the horse the daily gold again.

Think about that for a minute. Do you think that clay knows the difference between nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals? It’s going to bind with either one. I found this the hard way, first hand.
