We have a 16โ€™ stock for short day type trips so let me say that right off.

We are upgrading from a 23โ€™ on the floor 3H trailer to a 4H and a larger LQ.

At what point have you felt like youโ€™ve struggled to get a trailer in and out of places? Had to plan to leave extra early to make sure you could park? The ones Iโ€™m looking at are 30-34 on the floor - how much will I notice a difference in 30 vs 34...

ย I think you are going to have to worry about the tow rig more than trailer length. You will always get used to the length.

Truck isnโ€™t an issue, thatโ€™s already been upgraded since the original trailer purchase - had we known weโ€™d have this truck we would have bought at least the same LQ but in a 4H to begin with.

We used to haul a 6 horse with a 10’ lq.  I could haul it anywhere but I was never comfortable pulling it-lots of tight turns etc-had to be extra careful. I love my 4H 10’ lq-so easy on and of anywhere.  I had my LQ redone and it has made the LQ feel a whole lot bigger.

Iโ€™ve got a 44โ€™ on the floor and a 32โ€™ on the floor. I consider the 32โ€™ the little trailer, it fits and goes anywhere, smaller gas stations, grocery store parking lots, etc. . The big one I have to be way more selective.

To haul anything bigger than a 18โ€™ you need to have good reverse skills.

That helps! I still havenโ€™t mastered the smaller gas stations and tend to gravitate towards truck stops for their diesel lanes - and for the fast pumps ;-)

We are leaning towards being patient and finding a 4H with the right layout in a 11-13โ€™ SW. thatโ€™ll be plenty for us and we arenโ€™t hauling kids around yet. Iโ€™ve kind of reconciled with the fact that Iโ€™ll have a trailer payment until the eventual kids are out of high school rodeo and we downsize again.

I find a 14' short wall being the absolute upper limit if you tow on secondary roads and in the mountains. A 12' is better yet in those conditions. If all you do is major highway and flat country, your limit is your tow rig.

We have a 32' and can fit almost any place with some good maneuvering skills.

Mine is 28’ on the floor and it’s tight getting in some places but is doable anywhere I’ve tried to go.

We've had a 4H w/ 11' sw (about 30' floor) for some years now and recently picked up a 20' stock trailer. I have no issue with the 4H at all, but after pulling that around I almost forget the stock trailer is there.... lol.
My friend has a 7H that is humoungous! (well in my eyes anyway) and she does have to be mindful on which gasstation she uses, but other than that she says there is hardly any difference... Just take it slow when you think you get in a pickle. Take your time, and big turns where possible.

Mine is a 32' aluminum Stock with a front tack.
I backed it repetedly up and down our mile long driveway when we first got it. Made me more confident in hauling.
I also hauled it around town with me for a week straight to get used to it's length. Drive thrus, banks, gas stations, work, the whole nine.
I'd take that sucker anywhere.
