Location: Oklahoma | Sorry bout spelling, I'm sure I misspelled linement. A long time ago someone told me after horse workout to give my horse a Listerine bath. (Im pretty sure Listerine) I did one time and that sucker went to running and bucking. I didn't do again. and they also said to do before a jp or show. I didn't do that either. My question is what do you use after a workout or do you just use plain water? thanks |

Location: Jersey Girl | I use either Vetrolin, Bigeloil and sometimes Absorbine. I mix it with water and sponge not only the legs but the entire body. I will also poultice the legs too after a race.
Edited to add: I have only every used Listerine when there is some sort of fungus that I need to get rid of.

Did you dilute the listerine with water befor you used it? I have use this mixture lots of times and I have a few race horse buddies that use this also. |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | I use a 50/50 mix of green alcohol and witch hazel. Keep it in a spray bottle in my trailer or mix in a bucket of cool water and sponge on. I've also found a "Cooling Sports Rub" at Dollar General and have used that. |

Location: Opelousas, LA | I like to put some Absorbine, green alcohol and white vinegar in a bucket of very warm water then mix in a couple handfuls of epsom salt and sponge them off with it. I have no idea why, but my anhidrosis horse will sweat better if I do this after every ride. DIO gel for the legs if I wrap. |

| I use draw it out when I travel. At home I use vetrolin. I keep it mixed up in a gallon garden sprayer and mist them after I hose them off. |

Defense Attorney for The Horse
Location: Claremore, OK | Fill one of the little 9qt water buckets about 3/4 Full with water and add 1 pint of the wintergreen alcohol (from Walmart). Rinse horse off first, then sponge the alcohol and water on. Scrape off excess water with a scraper. The alcohol will help cool the horse and help him dry quicker. Cheap and effective ;-) |
