I have a yearling ( 1 year 4 months). She looks great except has a "potbelly". I did PowerPac her back in Sept. My vet recommeds to give her Anthelcide then 2 weeks later give quest plus 3 days in a row. I trust my vet but giving Quest Plus 3 days in a row makes me slightly nervous. Does this sound normal?

No, it’s not normal. You don’t want to give Quest, especially 3 days in a row to an unhealthy horse.

I would skip on giving Quest three days in a row too, not normal, I would give it one time and just put her on a deworming program. what kind of hay are you feeding? Not very good hay/ poor quality will give them that pot belly look.

So should I just try the Anthelcide? Just a side note; Her coat is very glossy and it is a slight potbelly, not horrible.

When was the last time that you dewormed this filly? Was it when you did the power pac back in Sept.? I would go ahead and deworm her with the Anthelcide.

we have pasture horses so we deworm the broodmares before the foal. Usually April. Then we deworm the babies with Ivermectin when we wean in Oct. They get something in the spring around March/April before they go to summer pasture and we deworm again in the fall when we bring them closer to home for the winter. I would not give the Quest 3 days in a row. That stuff is potent.
