My horse is sensitive when I brush the part of his back where his kidneys are. He's only sensitive to hard brushes, good with soft ones, or when I put pressure on that area. He's fine being saddled and cinched, but I have no idea what this could mean. Please help me.

I’m not a big herbals feeder but silver lining does make a pretty darn good kidney flush formula. You only use it once every few months. I have seen some good results with it!

I've actually been doing some kidney stuff with him this year with Horse Hair Analysis. He's had three checks; the first two we did kidneys and we're taking a break this time to see if it makes a difference.

And he's a sorrel, so I don't think it's the sun, but I can see that for a pink skinned horse!

We had one with similar symptoms and he has kissing spines in that area.

Would saddle fine usually, rode decent, roped ok. We didn’t train him and hadn’t had him for too long so we kind of just thought he was a middle of the road caliber horse. Tired some kidney stuff, swapped tack etc, when we did take him to be vetted he passed the lameness exam with flying colors. We x-rayed based on the soreness we were seeing in his back since I was already there, and there they were.

He’s done great with the injections and is a much higher caliber horse. We’re coming up on a year and starting to see some of the minor symptoms coming back so he’s going back in a couple weeks to be seen again.

Hmm that's an interesting idea. I'll call my vet tomorrow and see what he charges for x-rays for that.
