Well, the pre-entries are in. 99 in the open. 72 in the futurity. You can late enter, but its another $500.

I wasn't sure what to expect for numbers, but thought the open would be bigger. Thoughts? I'm still trying to decide whether to pay in a 2 yo.

Honestly- I'm not surprised at the numbers. 1)It's pretty expensive and 2) It's the 1st year - probably will gain more steam. I'm going to nominate my yearling because of resale value. As a small time breeder and rider - I doubt I'll pony up the money to go. I'm definitely not their target demographic.

65 of the futurity entries are carrying over to the open, so total of 164 in Open.

I too thought there would be more entries, but also something to keep in mind is that many of the studs offspring aren’t quite old enough yet. I think the numbers will just continue to grow as the years go on.
