We just got my daughter a little pony/horse mare a 2 weeks ago. Could that cause my dfc mare to come into a God awful heat. I mean kicking leaning on the side of the barn she has never done this in the 8 yrs I have owned her. I've had it happen before when I've brought a gelding into the barn but she was the last thing I bought until this little mare for my daughter. Just didn't know it this could happen bringing in another mare. My other 2 oldies (mares) seem to be fine. thanks in advance for any advice.

Thank you. I just use acronyms because my 2 biggies are both sorrels. But seriously thank you! I've always almost always have had mares and this is a first for me. Guess I've been lucky. I've just been letting her stay out because of the kicking Lord knows if she tears anything else up hubby not gonna be happy.

I had a mare that would come into heat when I rolled into a rodeo or playday, lol she was terrible, when I would saddle her and get on she would get all excited,, goofy a** mare.

YES!  It happens every time I bring a new horse home.  And it's not always the same mare acting like a ho!  This last time around made me want to shoot mine.  She swung from acting like a hot and ready stud to acting like a hot and ready mare.  Posturing and peeing everywhere she went.  I even kept her away from the new one as much as I could, gave her Mare Magic, herbs +.  It took her months to quit being stupid and get to where I could even ride her around the new one.

Thank you, everyone, I'm sorry I'm just getting back to you had a family emergency. She seems to have settled down a little bit. It just threw me for a loop because she has never acted like this before. Granted I haven't hauled her much but when I have taken her somewhere to ride she hasn't acted like this. I have been keeping them separated as much as I can. Hoping this is just a one time thing but will see. I was already planning to have a vet come out and check her because unfortunately as much as I love this mare we can't seem to get her sound I was going to sell her as broodmare prospect and light trail riding horse. And wanted to have her vetted for that, along with the 5 panel thing and DNA so that I would have that in order for whoever wanted to buy her. Thank you for all the suggestions and have heard good things about the regumate and was going to ask the vet about that.

Yes, it can happen!! Regumate is awesome for mares that tend to come into heat a lot, for whatever reason. I had one that had to have Regumate because when she was in heat, she turned mid evil!!!
