Yesterday at a retirement party for my wonderful and conservative neice (35 years a veterinary) I gave her a card and gift cards telling her that I planned to get her Steve Doocy's Happy Cookbook and still will as soon as I find a copy(appear to be sold out).  My liberal neice sitting beside me asked who Steve Doocy was.  She asked and I told her he was a host on Fox and Friends.  The minute she heard the word Fox she angrily stated:  " I don't want to hear anymore" and turned her head away from me.  This was a family gathering and there was absolutely no need for this but it's typically liberal.  We were talking about a COOKBOOK.  Liberals are a breed of their own.

.....uh....ever heard of spell check, Frodo? I rather respect your niece, or “ neice”. Too bad you’re so hung up on labels that you can’t seem to take personal responsibility for your little social faux pas. The girl doesn’t like fox and friends. So what?

I just have to ask---what was Frodo's social faux pas????

it wasn't

The old man was a jerk.  And if he looked at the pics of the sandwiches on the wall, he probably could have stated  "No Lettuce"  instead of being a jerk and complaining about how there shouldn't be lettuce on sandwiches.  No wonder he got lettuce....complaining is not a statement telling the cashier or cook what to do.

The ****y relative about Fox and Friends needs to realize a cookbook is not a political statement!!  Jeeze.   You didn't buy the cookbook because he's on Fox, you bought it because you like to eat! Make sure you serve something out of it to that person and AFTER they eat it, tell them it came from the Fox and Friends cookbook!

The other day you used loose in place of lose.  I didn't point out the error because it seemed unimportant compared to your usual tirade.  You indeed totally missed the point.  I wasn't being political on any scale.  My "liberal niece" (happy?) most definitely was.  She caused a good deal of discomfort for people over absolutely nothing.

And that in and of itself is sad.

Also, I have observed Mecon being rather critical to begin with................................

I work with a lot of people who I am sure probably did not vote for Trump. Many are black---not that it makes any difference, just trying to make a point. We are all professionals and realized a long time ago that is so much easier to get along than to quarrel about things we have little control over. I love these people for them not who they voted for or their political views. If one of them makes a statement I don't agree with we laugh about it and move on. If they don't agree with me, the same. Most of us refrain from making remarks that others don't agree with. Period.

Rude and hateful is not acceptable behavior no matter what side of the political spectrum you are on. But my observation is the most rude and intolerant people are on the liberal side toward anyone with a different opinion. That includes toward one of their own who starts to think for themselves.

Its amazing how hateful some people can be! My son had to be in a peer editing group in his college english class. He wrote about George Washington because hes a history lover. In his group was a girl that he let peer edit his paper and he had to edit her paper. He was neutral about her paper and told her where he thought she could improve, which is the point of the group! She proceeded to tell him he was a typical white male and he was whats wrong with this country. He wrote about the life of George Washington! He told her great he would keep that in mind when he was in law school, she got mad and stormed off! The media brainwashes these people and they believe what they are being told!

~BINGO~ - 2018-12-09 11:12 AM I’ll start this by saying I try to stay away from political banter... I feel that everyone is entitled to how they feel and what they believe in. I am a registered republican, and while I didn’t vote at the last election, I love our president. I know there’s been some “attacking” of sorts on here between republicans and democrats or how ever y’all want to spin it. Yesterday, I was super dismayed and disappointed in a fellow republican... after a race, we stopped in at a Carl’s Jr. for lunch. Service was slow, they were understaffed. When we entered, there were two older gentleman ordering. The gal taking the order was maybe 16 or 17, and Hispanic. The men were extremely rude with her, telling her she was incompetent of taking their order, repeating over and over again the importance that their hamburgers DON’T have any sort of lettuce or vegetables on them. Whatever. They sit down and wait for their order. We place our order, take a seat to wait. I went to use the restroom and come back out to my husband in a verbal altercation. Me, not knowing what was going on just walked past and asked my husband to “leave it alone”. But then I start listening. The mans. Burger. Had. Lettuce. And I’ll tell you what, it was the end of the world. He was cussing out this poor girl. Calling her names. “Jesus Christ” this and “God d***” that. My husband told this man that he had no right speaking to her that way and needed to watch what he was saying. He told my husband to mind his own business and started spewing about all the f-ing Democrats (us included) who defend illiegals. The problem diffused when a police man walked in and took over the situation. I know this is just rambling about an unfortunate experience, but these types of people are why different groups are given such a bad reputation. He was such a **** poor example of what a Republican... or human for that matter, is. It was disappointing to say the least... made me realize first hand that their are awful people in EVERY culture, race, political party, etc. we all need to just be better human beings to each other. Anyways... stepping down. Carry on.

Agree 100 percent.  Well said.

And Mecon?....you bring on the majority of the discourse yourself.   We apologized to you for the "hot lead" comment ( never mind Steve Scalise and the left wing nut that nearly killed him) and gave you center stage to share  your views.   I think the dialouge with you is interesting and brings alot of flavor to the boards.  But please leave the "victimhood" at the door.    One of my son's teammate in Afghanistan had his face blown off in a IED attack last week (another teammate died) and they are not crying "victim".  So neither should you.

Hate is  human fraility that all deal with in one way or the other.  Don't label all Conservatives haters and they won't label you a hater.   There ...I said it..... perhaps some of the courage my son displays on the battlefield is rubbing off on me.

She does rock!!!!

Mecon is hit/miss on so many political topics, but very little on horse related topics. She/he/they said on the other thread that they have very little to add on horse topics, enjoys reading horse topics; but prefers to post on political threads. And.... don't tell them how to enjoy the Forum. They do bring on the discourse themselves. Victim(s)?  I think not.  I know I didn't name call or disparage her/him/them, so I am not really sure why she/he/they cry out victim.

And Gail, you are so very right when it comes to the military. In a previous life, way before the recent wars, I was a military wife of an educated man. It is still a very difficult way to live then and to live in sacrifice. We cannot thank those boys (men/women) enough (and their families) for what they give to this country.

More people really need to back that truck up and understand what really being a victim is. Thank you Gail, for the reminder.
