Location: In The Snow, AZ | I’ll try to make a long story short. We’ve run into some financial issues that came with a job loss/business closure. I decided to sell off my more marketable horses, one including my nice mare that has won me basically everything I’ve ever won. Pretty solid mid 2d, top of 3d in the 300+ shows. 1d locally. I’ve had her for 6 years, trained her myself. Very close to my heart. But I knew she was one of the most sellable horses I had due to her accomplishments. I had her listed at $6,000. A lady was calling and messaging on her. Definitely wants her. I do a little research and find that she sells performance as well as offers lessons. I ask her if she’s planning on selling my mare. “Absolutely not.”. I ask her this same question over the next few days in our conversations and she assures me that while she does sell horses, it’s mainly when she has one in on consignment. That my mare would be for her, possibly for some lessons, and she has a Driftwood stud she wanted to cross on her down the line. So, I agree to sell. Someone sent me a Facebook post less than 24 hours later of another gal singing my buyers praises for selling her my mare... for $2,500 more, pending PPE. I talked to that buyer and outlined the situation. She understands my frustration but ends up being a really nice gal. No harm, I guess. A few days later, mare doesn’t pass PPE. Lady backs out. Horse gets sent back to buyer #1. I offer to purchase her back because this was my nightmare. I did NOT want her bouncing around. She doesn’t deserve it. I’m told no, original buyer has “fallen in love” with her and decides to keep her...all the while I’m seeing new ads pop up at the inflated price of $10,000. New ads are stating this has been her “all around girl” for barrels, poles, heeling, goat tying... she’s never been heeled on or goat tied on in her life. Stating vet checks sound (obviously she didn’t), no maintenance, which she does and I had disclosed it. She’s using my pictures and videos in her ads. I tried to put a post out on Facebook to warn people of the dishonesty, but admins are removing my posts, and she’s now listing her in surrounding states. It’s been a heartbreaking, frustrating situation with an innocent animal being put in the center. I don’t want her being sold under false pretenses, really don’t appreciate her using my videos to sell her. But she’s blocked me on everything and told me I’m SOL. Im sure there’s nothing I can do and it’s “seller beware” just as much as “buyer beware”. Maybe I just needed to vent. But if there’s something more I can do, I’m all ears... |

| Only thing I can think to do is get a friend she does not know to pose as a buyer. Give the friend the money to buy her back for you. |

Location: mi | I like the getting someone to buy her back. not at $10K but if she wont vet sooner or later she will drop that price back down. I would also report any ads you find to the admins of the pages at least for her using your pictures and videos. At least make her selling her a bit of a pain. That just sucks. sorry. But it can happen to anyone anytime. Once you sell them its kind of out of your hands no matter how hard you try to find the right home. |

Yes, report any ads using your photos or videos. She does not have permission to use those. Someone in my area had someone try to flip a horse on her like this and when they tried to use her photos, video, the original owner commented on each sale post stating the current owner did not have permission to use those photos or videos as they were hers. The posts got removed. |

| So sorry this has happened to you! I traded a mare for the one I am currently running. I raised the 1 I traded and it wasnt an easy decision but I could not get her out of the 3D and I knew she was better than that. The "friend" I traded her to told me she would be her forever horse. She would have a home forever yada yada yada. I dont even think it was 2 months later, she was sold. I was so mad. But what could I do? The mare ended up with a family with 2 teenage girls who adore her. They keep me updated every few months. Oh and the "friend" got mad at me for helping the family figure out some things on the mare right after they got her. I told her I delivered that mare and was with her for 10 years, IF I wanted to help them I would and she could go suck it. Best worse horse deal I have ever been in.
I hate that your dealing with this. I would let people know what she did. I pray your girl finds a forever home. |

| I have been in a similar situation. Where are your videos? If they are on youtube, you can make them private or delete them so they arent available anymore. As far as the pics, continuining to report as the others have said. It is so frustrating to see these things happen, people just dont have a conscience and it is mind boggling to me. |

Location: Muskogee, OK | What a tough ordeal... selling horses is not for the faint of heart. And I must be faint hearted! I’ve recently had a similar experience of selling one to what I thought would be a forever home, now listed for sale not fully disclosing information that should be disclosed (that was FULLY disclosed when selling him to the current owners). I feel for the horse, the prospective buyers, it just makes me sick that he could end up somewhere that doesn’t take care of him right. |

| That really stinks!! Unfortunatly I guess that is the chance we take when they leave our posession . :( My sister sold her high school rodeo horse to some family friends who promised when their kid was done with her they would give her the option to buy her back. She really wanted to have her back one day so that she could live out retirement. Those folks didn't see through to their promise and sold her to another family to be used (at a very retireable age). It sucks, and there is always a chance. May I ask who the person is? |

You can PM me for the name if you’d like :) I’m already being told I’ll likely be sued for slander because I called her out... I had messaged her and just asked her to quit using my video last and I’ll leave it alone. But she’s still using them. Unfortunately, they’re not on YouTube, they were personal video I had sent her. |

there is, or used to be a poster on this board that threatened to sue me about 80 times.
I still haven't been sued, but I'm looking forward to it. |

You cannot be sued for slander simply for pointing out FACTS that she is using your photos and videos, and she's only had the horse for x amount of time. Now if you were to start saying she mistreats her horses, does drugs, gets all of her food out of dumpsters, etc, then you could be sued for slander. Big difference in stating facts and making false accusations. |

Lol! Well that’s good to know. I wasn’t overly worried. There isn’t much here they could get out of me anyways. |
