Has anyone ever had a problem with a tight hip and balance ?  I do a lot of driving and have a very tight right hip that frequently has to be adjusted. It affects my balance on the right barrel. It took me awhile to figure the problem out but finally I did.

I suggest doing yoga or excircises that involve stretching. This has helped me big time. I understand the hip thing. Have that to besides groin issues  :(   I got beginners yoga dvd's. No one & I mean NO ONE see's me do this except my cats

Look into stretches to loosen up your hip flexors and exercises you can do at home to strengthen them, maybe? That's what this sounds like to me.

Ditto to yoga, stretching hip flexors etc.  will also probably help it not need adjusted as frequently

Oh I almost made a post about riding with hip problems the other day but decided not to. I have a tilted and tight hip that if I don't keep up with the chiropractor on then it gets worse and worse and causes me to bounce in my saddle. It was so bad a few weeks ago I could only touch one stirrup with my feet at a time. I started doing this program to also help loosen my hips and legs up and I can already tell a difference in the first 10 days or so https://dressageridertraining.com/. It is marketed towards dressage riders but many other disciplines do it as well. It is a tad pricy but with everything you get, I found the price well worth it. There is also a free weekly email that gives you riding tips and workout moves to help with strength and/or balance. I started with that before signing up for the 12 week program.

You could start a new trend---cat yoga rather than goat yoga

Thanks all. I feel stupid it took me so long to figure out it was my hip. My chiropractor did give me a good suggestion   She said to be sure to not let my foot point to the right when driving. Keep it straight or pointed  a little to the left. So I tried that when riding and it actually helped. I tried to make sure my foot is straight and didn’t let my toe drift to the right. Actually made a difference on my balance to the right.

Pardon my asking, but how old are you and how long has this been going on?

It’s been going on probably 8 years. I’m in my 50’s and started doing a lot of driving for work. 100 to 150 miles a day and that’s when it started. I just didn’t realize what it was at first I blamed my horse.

You need to stretch your tight hip flexors and strengthen your antagonist muscles which is primarily your glutes and lower back. A good full body weight lifting routine will also help.
