I'm a California native and my husband is from the Lubbock area. We moved back there north of Amarillo about 10 years ago and I only lasted 2 years and moved back to California due to the weather, which I hated. But since this state is going to crap my husband wants to move back. I told him I don't like the cold or the wind, i can handle the heat better, so he's thinking somewhere between/west of  Austin and San Antonio and possibly even a little farther north and east too. I'm not barrel racing anymore but I do show reined cowhorse.  What can anyone tell me about the area? We are coming out there to visit friends in the area and look around for a week at the end of July. We've been looking at horse property and there seems to be some nice places that are reasonably priced. Thanks a lot!
