Location: Southern Illinois | Went out this morning and one of my 2 year olds is lame in the hind end. No obvious injuries, hoof is hot, nothing else anywhere. Has a crack in the hoof. Pretty sure shes got an abcess, vet agrees. I was planning on sending her to Kindergarten new week. Darn the luck! How's everyone else's New Year going so far. |

| Had a procedure done at the hospital Friday and I don't have pancreatic cancer so that is the best start to a new year I have had in a long time. I have really been sick so this was a relief. |

I am hugely blessed to have a great relationship with my vet office. They always have a vet available for emergency farm visits at all times, which is a huge plus and they will ALWAYS come the same day you call. They came out within an hour after calling. Shes sore but should be fine with some antibiotics and keeping everything clean. I went out and sat with her for a while last night while she was laying down. I leaned up against her and played bubble pop. Sometimes I think bonding like that is a huge game changer in these babies. |

Location: NC | Totally feel you on that. Thursday last week I noticed my coming 2 year-old had a cut on her back leg. Treated it by hosing and cleaning out and putting Neosporin on it and then continued to do that. Saturday not only did she have the cut but she was lame on the front foot, which she blew an abscess out. Walked out Monday and I had to have the vet out because her leg was double the size and she had a fever. So she is now on full antibiotics and wrapped leg. Thank goodness the abscess popped. Some days I just shake my head at them

Thank you. I got really sick about the first of May and I did get better but just not quite up to snuff. They should have done this in May when my pancreas was killing me. It was a good way to start the new year. |

She's not limping at all today and has decided she wants out with the rest of the herd. I'm glad she doesnt have a major injury because she is a wiggle worm. Shes sure been doing the jitterbug in the stall as shavings are all over and unlike my other 2 babies, she doesnt keep a neat stall. Still not going to turn her out for a few days but ill be hand walking her tomorrow a few times a day. |
