| Just asking for opinions...this is not a complaint post! There could be some logical explanation to my person opinion and if so I would like to know. I have noticed that at many of these big multidays barrel races that the announcers talk, as if to entertain, during competition runs. Some make jokes, some address the riders, and many times call for the tractor drivers, all while competitors are making their run. In golf, tennis and many other sporting events that require concentration, announcers only comment before or after the play is made. I know in the rodeo arena it is different and it is a crowd entertainment sport. For the multi-way events however, there are not all professional riders and horses participating. Horses are extremely sensitive to sound and loud noise as riders too can also be distracted. With the high cost of participation in theses events, and the mindset of most barrel racers , which is to do everything possible to help their horse and themselves perform at its best, does anyone else think announcers should refrain from chatter during runs? |
