I think Trump's choice of Fauci and Birx was a brilliant decision. He's not the final word on how we will proceed, going forward. The downward revision of the death toll projections is due to the very good work the team has done, and the response of American citizens. Trump has a really challenging task going forward. He will balance the course of the pandemic with the economic reality and the real deadly consequences of a severe recession. Fauci loses some credibility when he veers out of his lane of expertise into the realm of economics. That's why the task force is not made up entirely of doctors and scientists. I'm sure there will be a lot of heated back-and-forth behind closed doors when it comes to deciding how to get people back to work and getting the economy resuscitated. I don't think Fauci is some evil deep state operative, like some are suggesting. He's the best in the business....when he stays in his lane. Trump knows this. There's a lot of "sausage making" going on behind closed doors. We cannot and will not go much longer with the economy in idle. My guess is there will be a gradual freeing up in lower risk areas. We will still have to continue the mitigation and we'll still have to protect the most vulnerable, all the while allowing the less vulnerable to go back to work. Densely populated urban areas will lag behind, by necessity.
