Hello! My horse got his hocks injected a couple days ago, this is probably a stupid question but I forgot to ask the vet if he could go on the equivibe? Also, do you guys prefer back on track hock boots or magnetic etc? Also the vet said I could run him Saturday, but should I give him this weekend off just in case?

I have found vets have a wide range of opinions on this subject. My horses just got done 2 weeks ago as well. I'm using a new performance horse vet this time. It takes 2 weeks for the injections to take full effect. Doesn't mean you can't use them before then, just that the full benefits of the injections for them takes that long. Protocol from my vet was no riding or work at all on the day of injection or following day. 1 gram bute for first 3 days only. On day 3, light riding at walk , nothing strenuous. Day 4-5 normal riding but try and avoid sharp turns or over exertion. My vet told me not to enter a barrel race for 10-14 days. Reason being , the steroid needs to work and get the inflammation out. If you run, that puts stress on the joint and adds inflammation no matter what. She said it won't hurt , but you won't get the full benefit of the injection. For my vet bill on 2 horses, I want full benefit. Lolol. I have no idea on the equi vibe etc.

Okay, I was a bit nervous asking him to run that soon. I will probably just skip this weekend to be on the safe side! Thank you!

Make sure not to use BOT for a while after the injections, I think it's a week. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I've always been told not to use them after injections.

Its 72 hours for magnets, I would assume its similar for BOT too
