When is it time to stop doing exhibitions or time onlies and expect that your horse should show up and know what they are there for? After their futurity year? During? Further down the line?
How old is the horse? How long have they been on the barrel pattern? Usually I stop doing time onlies or exhibitions when they can cruise through the pattern with no major problems.

Are you going to entry this horse in a futurity?
Personally for me, it is a futurity horse (5 year old). So I have bought and wil continue to do TO's at these futurities. But he is starting to feel a lot more confident in his runs so I was wondering if at the smaller local jps I should start doing less-none TOs.
As a general question just wondering when everyone else stops doing them on their younger horses.
I've neve rhad a futurity horse or technically a young one, youngest I've started on pattern was 7 already. But I stop expoing once they can make a good cruise through without major mistakes like poster above said. Also, keeping in mind the times if they do show you time on expo, then if I'm at least around 2 seconds off I'll enter them. If they're farting around making mistakes and running 3 seconds off I'd rather spend the $5 on expo than $20-40 on entry. But thats just me. I want to have a chance at being in 4D money or better if I'm going to actually enter. Because for around here we don't have to pay jump outs or office fees on horses that aren't entering.
