Hey there! Just ordered my first nebulizer !! Took my good horse in yesterday for a scope and he doesn't have an infection, just an irritated , unhappy , allergic upper airway. Since I have had him on curost total for years , I minimize environmental dust and stress , vet highly recommended a nebulizer. She is going to make a custom solution to treat his airway inflammation and get him healed BUT what does everyone do on a regular basis ??? She wants me to use her solution before runs and while traveling but what can I use to support him day to day??? How often to nebulize???? And what should I use ? Thanks !

It really comes down to the horse and what you are trying to "fix". I use a nebulizer to open up my horses' airways and I use it on one of my mares with allergies/cough.
I use it 1-2 times a week for 20 minutes. I also use it the day before, 2 hours before, and the day after a competition.
I nebulize 25 cc of Equisilver on all of my horses and just started using Peppermint (essential) oil weekly for my mare.
Hope this helps!
*Edited to add: I use the Flexineb E3 (their newest version)*
I'd check with the manufacturer before nebulousness any essential oil. The oils are tough in the plastic components.
I usually use some sort of equi silver when their allergies start acting up. However since adding Race Today to their grain I haven't had to use it much this year. This year has been mild...usually mid July the smoke starts rolling in. This we didn't get "smoked" in until the end of August first of September. To help open their airways because of smoke I used saline solution. I would nebulize mid week, day before, morning of, and after their run. I also kept their conditioning to a minimum.
THanks all!!! Vet made me a treatment mix and I will get some of the silver! Thanks
