What does it do!?! I picked up some low NSC triple crown " grass forage" and the only ingredients are orchard grass, Timothy , and glycerin. Don't remember ever seeing it in feed before. Looked online and all I can find is it lubricates the throat. Not sure why it's needed. Is it sugar? Thanks.
It's considered a sugar alcohol, the way I understand it. Not supposed to affect the metabolism. It's like an artificial sweetener... think Splenda.... or Swerve ... a favorite for keto peeps .. way sweeter then real sugar without the side effect.
Pretty sure its to slow the spoilage and mold in the feed.

Got it!! I also got to thinking dust control for horses sensitive to dust in Hay. As long as its not a real sugar we are good!
