Any real advice to be given? I guess I'm fortunate to have never had to do this in my years of having horses. My daughters filly kicked thru some tin and ripped herself up pretty badly.  She just came home today from the vet with a cast on her back foot. Has to stay dry and clean and quiet. She's going to be 2 come March. Yay. So anyway... she's comfortable and can walk without a limp in that cast, it's pretty cool actually.  We have her in one of our smaller stalls bedded deep in shavings. She has a slow feed net full of hay, a zesterra tub and bucket full of hay cubes to eat as she wants. Which she hasn't touched. Is there something I can offer for calming or relaxation maybe .. she hasn't shown any signs of restlessness but we just got her back today. The vet suggested to keep her eating the purina sr feed they were feeding her to get her antibiotics and pain meds in.. last thing I want to do is pump her full of sugar and molasses while being stalled, but I know she won't eat her hay cubes with the meds in it, she won't eat them soaked ... period. 

I would get her on some ulcerguard paste for the duration she is confined. You should be able to pick it up at tractor supply or ask your vet for some. One tube is 4 doses and it's one dose every day. You should be able to get by with 5 tubes.  

I had a 3 month old colt get torn up last fall. Cut the inside of his back leg to the bone. His back leg was in a cast and I had to make vet trips (45 miles 1 way) every 3-4 days for the first 3 weeks to get the wrapping changed. It then went down to once a week until the 7 week mark. We kept him and momma up on stall rest and it went alot better than I thought it would. We kept plenty of hay infront of them and spent lots of times brushing mom and playing with the baby. Tried to make the bes tout of a bad situation. 

He came out of it completely fine and the leg healed up amazingly well!
