I really want to plan a trip to WY and go to Cheyenne Frontier Days. I'm a planner and started putting together a draft itinerary. (Don't judge lol) Those that have gone to CFD what are some must-dos or must-sees? Let me add, I have a toddler going with us. Lodging? Share with me! Thanks everyone!

I'd start calling for your rooms now, but I bet they are all booked! Their website is the best bet for parades, pancake breakfasts and rodeos/night shows. I grew up there, but haven't been in years. It's fun I'm sure, but not what it used to be.

Just know that the motels, etc raise their rates substantially during the CFD. You may want to look for lodging in a nearby city. I agree with checking with the CFD website for their events and times. My son is a past committee chairman but we have not been out there for several years.

We always stayed in Laramie. Its 53 miles away, so about an hour in Wyoming travel speed.

The Hampton Inn is very nice, quite and good environment for family with kids. They never really seemed to jack the prices up too much.

I always went through booking.com

Laramie is a cool town itself. if you dont mind the drive it is really an excellent choice.

When we went we actually stayed in Laramie. Saved almost $800 on the hotel.

Great info! Thanks everyone. I'm looking at airlines. Google shows that there is an airport in Cheyenne (CYS), but when I'm looking at flights is only shows Laramie and Denver. Does anyone know? It does look like Laramie would be our best bet.

Four of us girls are going too.  We are staying in Laramie at the Fairfield.  We Florida girls are looking forward to seeing the sites and getting out of this heat for a week.

I live in Cheyenne, I've lived here for almost 5 years now and CFD is always a good time. My biggest advice is to park at the park-n-ride and shuttle in on the bus. There is never enough parking near frontier park and you can get stuck in traffic for hours trying to find a spot.

As far as lodging, everything in town will be high. Laramie is 50 minutes west and Wellington,CO is 35 minutes south, I would look at either of those places for cheaper lodging.

I would recommend flying into Denver and driving up. Cheyenne does have an airport, but it will be closed this summer for construction, which also means there will be no air show in 2023.

Thanks so much! I hate to hear they won't have an air show this year. We are also looking into Air BNBs.

Where do the locals hangout and eat?  We will be out there for 5 days and will more than likely get tired of all the touristy stuff and want a break from it.  We are all country girls and will want to get out and drive and look at the beautiful country.  We are staying in Laramie and will drive and park like you recommended.
