Subject: HTW Saddle question

5001002525

I recently purchased a used HTW flex at a good price for what they are going for. I had rode in one twice and felt like I liked it enough to jump on this one when I saw it.

Well, after making a run in it I found that I'm struggling big time with keeping my feet from getting behind me, which was totally unexpected since it said to have forward hung stirrups. I have since realized that they are not quite as forward as I was expecting (like the joseys, etc) and it seems like even though they are set forward some, they have the ability to "swing" and easily get behind you (at least for me).

My question is, those who have one of these saddles or have tried them, did anyone have this issue? I've tried shortening my stirrups but I couldn't imagine making a run with them that short. I've tried going longer and I'm all over the place. I love the saddle otherwise because of the deep "hold you in" like feel. I also have bruises on my stomach from getting slung up on the horn during that one run. Now I will say my position around the barrel is perfect. It's just when I try to sit up and ride through them.

Help me understand how this saddle should ride so that I can make another whole hearted attempt before posting it for sale.

P.s. yes I have talked with Felicia, sent pics etc. She said the seat size is right although I will say everyone else I know that has one and is the same size if not larger than me is riding in a half size smaller.

I bought a Circle Y Flex for my young mare and had to sell it due to the way it fitted her and the way it seated me. It pushed me forward and threw my balance off. I had to sell it because it didn't fit right and was making her sore. I would recommend yuo sell yours and buy a different brand. If you like a saddle that sits you back farther and keeps your feet stable, I would get a Corriente.
