Today is
We have a cute little AQHA mare, 4 y/o this year. DFP/ASOF bred. She is max 14 hands, more like in the 13.1 to 13.2 range. Is she going to grow anymore? We have had her since she was a yearling, she has filled out nicely, just no height. I call her my pony sized horse. She's a sweetheart and we've turned her out to let her grow, but she just isn't.
PS, I know I haven't been on in a while, life has been busy!
Don't know if it's true but I've had they get taller until six and wider until 12.
Probably not much
That's kind of what I was thinking...there is no reason why she should be small other than genetics, but her genes suggest she should be bigger. Might have to change courses and hope she makes a good kids horse at some point.
Feed/Forage go along way in growth, unlimited forage is what I do with all my horses especially colts. Mine also have grown till they were 6. I find they may get a little wider after but usually 6 you know what you have.
We have tried...left her turned out and waited until this winter to put rides on her. I know some are slow to mature but I thought I'd ask.
Get a dna kit she sounds like an XO chromosome mare! I have one right now good luck
