Has anyone had a horse break their pelvic bone on the tip and come back 100%?
My horse did it 2 years ago and is working but not clocking, injections regularly.

Yes, i've had a couple come back . The've also been around 3-4 that did not come back. There are ligaments attached that stabilize the pelvis. If those ligaments are damaged/torn, odds arw against the horse coming back

How does such an injury happen and how is it diagnosed?

I think the injury the OP is speaking of is a fracture of the wing of the illium , usually caused by hitting it at high speed coming out a stall or shed door. Sometimes you can ultrasound it, most of the time you can palpate it. It's not really xrayable .

Yes that is exactly it. I didn't see it happen but end result was a horse in tremendous pain, worse then colic and only 2 spots close to that area missing hair...

Did you have bone scans done to determine the damage? My horse is working like he always does but  he is not clocking.  Its been 2 years and something in my gut said he wouldn't be the same.

He got the tip of his pelvis you could see on ultra sound
