Location: LouLouVille, OK | Does anyone have a mare and foal that they separated for the birth, but has a group of geldings that she seems to miss. Does anyone turn theirs back out with the herd? If so at what time? 3 months old? Or just nope till it's weaned and older? |

That awesome, those babysitters are amazing. I have 5 geldings and they all are so curious on the baby, it's been over 20 years since I have had a baby colt so I can't remember but I do remember I had the best dumb luck ever back then. lol This mare is crippled, she gets around good, but I am not sure she can hold up to 5 geldings. I was going to wait till he was 3-4 months old and stick my old guy over with them because eventually he will be the baby sitter :) This gives me hope |

Location: Kansas | my mares foal in the pasture, so baby is always around the herd. Haven't had any issues with it the past few years, but I do have a few babysitters |

| I don't trust any gelding with the babies. |

| By the time mine are born, I have a considerable amount invested in them. They can kill themselves in a padded room. I just try not to take chances. |

Location: SW MO | We keep ours up and foal them in the barn, then turn them back with the other mares & a stallion. Sometimes the same day they are born if the weather is good & everything is going good. There's no better place for a foal than pasture. I however don't think I would turn a baby with geldings. |

Location: LouLouVille, OK | Thanks everyone, This mare is crippled, so I know she couldn't fight off 1 let alone 5 at once. She is out in a pasture, she foaled in the pasture, and she and her baby are in their own section of pasture. They are happy :) I just wasn't sure if or when I should turn him out with the rest. I have a babysitter that I was going to wean him with. It's a ways off but I appreciate the input! |

| My broodmares and foals are never pastured with my geldings or maiden mares. They can kill the colt. |
