| FINISH LINE has a product that I used to use. The thing that helped my horse more than anything was figuring out what was causing the problem. That pretty cell eliminated the heaves |

Location: Warsaw,NY | I had one that developed heaves bad, she was getting clebuterol daily, with Heave Ho which helped a ton. She got a glucocorticoid inhaler for 10 days, that was to stay in her system for 3-4 months. That really took the wheeze away but not the cough. I had a nebulizer that i used albuterol, dex and other stuff to try and help. She got IV Dex alot for instant relief. As soon as sher went south it all went away |

Location: Arkansas | Was it Air Power? I used that quite a bit with a bleeder I had (with Lasix too of course). I always keep it on hand because it is great for coughs. I've been known to take a dab myself when I'm bad snotty/congested, LOL. |

That's a pretty loaded question. First and foremost you have to figure out what is CAUSING the horse to heave. Is it allergies? Is it environment? Is the horse a bleeder? Is there an anatomical airway obstruction? Etc. Etc. You didn't provide any additional details so perhaps you've done some of this already, but first go to the vet and have the airways scoped, do a BAL and do an allergy test. And then wait for results to figure out your next move. Steroids are very effective to help a horse having an active heaves episode but they aren't without risks. When my horse has an episode, she gets dexamethasone IM. I also nebulize dex, albuterol, ipratroprium (and alpha2 ) .... not all at once of course, but I rotate/use based on her symptoms. We've been maintinain with doing allergy shots and kenalog shots every 4-6 weeks along with routine nebulizing. And adding LASIX when she runs. I haven't used ventipulmin for her as she's been pretty good about coughing but I will likely keep it on hand this winter as if it's too cold to nebulize, then that's going to be my backup. (I live where we get WINTER.) It's a lot of trial and error to figure out what's causing it and what's going to work for management. Either way, get yourself a good vet. |

Location: Wherever They Send Me | My mare got it when we lived in Texas...Steroids helped it go away. Then I put her on SmartBreathe from SmartPak. She's always had some sort of seasonal allerigies...lived in three states since then. Pennsylvania her allergies were HORRIBLE, her eye was super goopy, but her breathing seemed good. Now in Virginia, no real allergies, but she it out most of the time (only comes in to eat). |

Mine had to go north! She's never taken a bad breath in Kentucky. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | For mine I gave vita flex supplement , pure vitamin E, bio- hesper C/K, Re-Coop, rose hips, honey. Given twice a day. At the time vita flex had pro/ pre biotics it may have changed by now. She was so bad she was knocking on heavens door. So I doubled up .. next day she was eating and no heaves. All the vet pills didn't do a thing for her. |
