April vs March is this true? |

The purpose of the American was to allow anyone to compete...the woman have their own sanctioning body of rodeos .. |

Men have Saddle Bronc, Bareback Bronc, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Bull Riding and Tie Down Calf Roping, none of which women are strong enough to compete in other than a few in team roping. Figure it out. How long do you think it will be before guys are breakaway roping as well as barrel racing at rodeo events because it's headed that way. Women are being pushed out of sports originiated for themselves. |

Guys Just Wanna Have Fun

Location: OH | It is fun, that is why we barrel race. There are exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, women kick are butts at it though. I really really do not see men taking over barrel racing. On a different note, I am in Ohio---growing up there was not a lot of chances to rope--who knows I may have, but everyone barrel raced. PLUS---I would rather be at a barrel race with a bunch of pretty barrel racers than be at a roping with a bunch of stinking ropers. LOL. It is how I met my wife !!!!!!! |

Location: Randolph, Utah | Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Brandon run at multiple Americans, and this was his first time to win? So that proves the ladies can still outrun him, he won this one fair & square. Also, everyone who enters the qualifiers with hopes of making the American know the rules, if they didn't want to compete against a male they wouldn't enter. |

I kind of agree. When I got my first playday horse men and women had separate groups. The only barrel races were rodeo which was all women. The only local barrel organization did not allow men. Word was a man had sued that organization for the right to join and compete back in the late 70s early 80s. He lost. Enter Talmadeg Green's NBHA and here we are! |

Location: Kansas | The first American rodeo should have designated the barrel race as being for the women of rodeo only. It doesn't have anything to do with the men being stronger or unable to outrun the women. It has to do with fairness. Men are slowly taking over women's sports. Watch the news. |

Barrel races yes
rodeo no
I agree with you.
I agree with you but don't really feel very sorry for you all. Back in the 70's we had all around horses and they were pretty darn good. I started many colts and showed many 2 year olds in futurities. Made a lot of money on babies that were to go on to pleasure, reining or cutting, it's why NSBA was started. However when they put big money in the futurities the men put on their fancy little ties and ruined (note what they call a pleasure horse now) the pleasure horse for everyone. JMO Now I have shown reining, working cow horse and cutting all judged events that you better be able to beat a man by at least 2 points. If I was younger I'd take that shot against a man on the clock, did it many years in team penning. IMO a woman is a better jockey and I've been watching them for years. No doubt many trainers I admire are men. However whenever I have to pick a jockey I'd pick a female. JMO I think it's time women realized, life really is not fair. You always have to be better and over qualified. |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | Agreed ...... In TEN YEARS, how many men have won the barrel race at the American Rodeo (2014 - 2024) ..... Additionally, the qualifier events for the American Rodeo are put on by the BBR ...... who allows women AND men ...... |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | Frodo .... then I guess YOU missed the point ...... the qualifiers are run by BBR ....... It doesn't make a bit of difference if they "call" the American a rodeo or jackpot ...... UNTIL the qualifiers are run by the WPRA or another rodeo assn., you have to play by THEIR RULES! |
