Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | My new 6 yr old Tres Seis, Merridoc, DFC mare is in training and getting her booty worked off. She's eating and entire bale of alfalfa daily and omelene 200 with DAC supplements and beet pulp pellets. I'm not sure on the weight for omelene or the bale of hay. But her top line is lacking. She's had her teeth done and been dewormed. She's a big mare 15.3 and I'm sure every bit of 1200lbs. I'm on my phone and unsure how to load the photo.
what would you feed her grain and supplement wise? I will be added free choice alfalfa mix 24/7 when she comes home. Unfortunately I think she's eating the training out of house and home |

Location: Illinois | IMO, if she's eating a bale of alfafa plus some grain & beet pulp and still looking like that its probably not a feed issue. Has she been treated for ulcers? I'd start there first |

Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | Trainer says she's like a garbage disposal. She's not cinchy or grouchy. She doesn't act like any horse I've seen in the past with ulcers. I'm attaching her sale add photo

I'm attaching her sale add photo If she is at a trainers, chances are she is stressed... giving her 30 days of omeprozole would change her weight if it were ulcers. I treated a horse for ulcers that was not cinchy, was not reactive and it's night and day. The quality of the hay is another thing. Good quality horse hay is a game changer. Teeth done? Wormed? She's a beauty, hopefully we can help with suggestions :) PS. Blue Bonnet omega force is amazing |

| I woud NOT use omelene, its 40% sugar. I would pick a feed higher in fat like Triple crown senior. Purina senior is also a good option or Ultium competition formula |

Hey Ms. Cindy, yes I believe it's good quality hay, but I'm 4 hours away. I feel like she's a good trainer but I'm also not there. I know my mare is burning calories and she's from out west so she's getting used to the Midwest humidity. She was dewormed and teeth done first part of August. Blue bonnet isn't usually in my local stores but if I can order it and have it shipped I sure will.
When you treated for ulcers did you use omeprazole powder or paste? |

My friend just told me about purina senior performance. I'm thinking maybe I'll try that. I'm not a big supplement fan because we feed great quality hay. The trainer also suggested EPM treatment although she has zero hallmark neuro issues. I'm learning A LOT of people do it routinely now. I'm just not big on treating something if that's not the true issue. |
