Location: Jersey Girl | Good luck in finding an affordable place. I live in NJ and the property taxes are absolutely out of control. Alot of NJ residents retire to Florida, Delaware or North Carolina because the cost of living is so much lower. |

Good luck in NC. Our property assesment in our county just went up 100%. Our part of the county, which doesnt have anything besides a mom and pop gas station was the highest taxed. Double wide trailer here too. Brand new double wide on an acre down the street sold for $240k. Everything is quite expensive. |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | We lived in Iowa and when we were getting ready to retire, I looked at the tax structures in numerous states. We moved to Arkansas because of low land taxes. We have a brick front ranch house, 6 acres, 3 stall barn, 30 x 40 shop/garage and pay personal property tax on a car and truck ..... Arkansas locks your tax at 65 and can only be raised IF you update or add to the property. They also give a "homestead" deduction ...... Last year, I paid $385 ...... Additionally, the millage rate can be different by county. Now that being said, the sales tax is higher than most states. I don't mind that because everybody has to pay that.

Housing prices are crazy here also. Single wide trailers are selling for 150K or more. The latest thing is the electric and gas company have been given the go ahead to increase rates by our wonderful governor. Some are charging "delivery" fees that are more than the actual gas/electric usage which means your bill has doubled or tripled. So irritating. |

My property taxes on a 1500 sq ft home on a 1/4 acre is $4400 a year. And I am in one of the "cheaper" towns. |

Do you have the ability to dispute the value of your home/property? I'm not familiar with other states, but in Texas we're able to dispute the value of our properties in the attempt to decrease or halt any property tax increases. I've been able to successfully argue the value of our property a few times to make some value adjustments. It takes some time, but it saved us some money. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | I am in michigan on 3.8 acres and a double wide. I was hit with a summer tax of 700 and a winter tax of 1700. any room there in arkansas . that an old lady can get way under for less than 25,000 with enough acreage to feed two horses...they say they are working on it which means Im out on the water and wont know anything till I can row myself back to land. |

| https://youtu.be/Mrsp7CJ0hNc?si=4JS-aCmmrUHg7CvN This tax property lawsuit, as the 16th ammendment shows property tax is NOT LEGAL, is going on in Denton,TX. If they win it can benefit all of us. Well, not quite everyone. It will not help those making a killing with this property tax scam.

| If you live in TX, the homestead exemption went from $60,000 to $125,000. My school taxes have been zero for two years. My county taxes are a little over $300. They go by square feet of your HOME, other buildings and amount of land. I have a good size double wide, 30 X30 garage, 30 X 50 shop and 7.5 acres. Everyone else's property tax paid my salary for 43 years. I am not complaining. |

I had a surprise this year (2025). We just got our tax bill and I owe $293 ..... and that included a $40 "fire premium" ...... They have raised the "homestead" deduction ...... Our son wants us to move back to Iowa .... NO way! the taxes there alone would take a whole month of our money plus the extra heating LP ......
