I am currently looking at a 4 yo blk/wht tobiano mare who is a gdaughter of Moon Lark on top and Easy Jet on bottom.  I've had Easy Jet horses before but never a Moon Lark horse.  Any body know anything about them?  Ever ran or owned one?  Also do you have any idea what she may be worth?  The lady wants $2500, she is very green.  To be honest that is all I know about the horse.  Thanks!

I have a 4 YO mare by Dr Nick Bar out of a Moon Lark (Red River Lark) mare.  I love her.  Red River Lark has a full brother, Texas Moon Lark, that's a darn  nice barrel horse.  I can put you in touch with the lady that owns Texas Moon Lark.  She loves Moon Lark horses.

We have owned several Moon Lark horses. To be real honest the direct get ( sons and daughters) have all been NUTS! Very Hot, hard to get to settle into a groove, and just not a horse for anyone. However These Moon Lark mares that we crossed on our For Honor And Money stud produced some of the BEST foals you could ask for! Quiet, do anything you ask, very level headed, sweet, honest and want nothing more then to please you. Moon Lark has been a VERY nice cross on our stallion, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another daughter of Moon Lark to breed to him.

Last year we sold a 3 year old stud colt out of For Honor And Money and a Moon Lark daughter for $8,000.

Hope this helps :)

I really like her breeding and if she proved herself I was going to breed her to my OTMR, JOH horse but they did say she had a bit of an attitude.  She's about 15.2 and very green, far as I know was never seen the pattern as is soon turning 4 or 5 (can't remember).  Thanks for the info, just thought I'd post some more infor since I found some more out.

We have a Moon Lark out of a Tinky Poo mare.  He has his quirks but he is fast and can run barrels.  I know hubby will be interested in any Moon Larks.  Probably the biggest quirk is that he knows he is King, notice I didn't say thinks he is king, he knows he is.   Gentle as them come but so gentle he will knock you around.  My daughter thinks he and I have a real personality conflict.

Several years ago, I looked at a 3 year old own son of Moon Lark.  He was a big, good looking, athletic, nice moving horse, but his brains left something to be desired.  If he didn't understand something or felt pressured, he would just block you out.  I passed on him because that's a trait that I absolutely cannot handle.  He's the only one I've ever been around, so I couldn't tell you if it's a bloodline trait or peculiar to him.

My paint horse is Moon Lark/Easy Jet Bred. He is my favorite horse of all time. He has the sweetest personality and a true pleaser. He is the most consistant horse I have ever rode, He runs 1D 2D times and WPRA money earner. I would go for another horse bred like him in a heartbeat.

We have a own son of Moon Lark. A 15 year old gelding. He is very fast (si 101) and can run barrels. But as stated earlier, he is very hot and has a bad temper. I don't know if this is his breeding or a product of his handling as a youngster. We have only owned him for 3 years. He is also tough as nails and not a quitter.

I have a 2 yr. old Red Dun & White Tobiano filly for sale. She has Jet Lark and Night Lark on bottom of her papers along with Zan Parr Bar. She's about 14.2 hh and as sweet as they come. She's so gentle I saddle her and lead my little girl (2 yr. old) around on her. She's very calm and easy to handle. Ties, bathes, trims, loads, lunges, stands good for farrier, etc. I'm asking $2300.00 O.B.O. for her. If anyone is interested I can e-mail pictures.

I have a friend that has a gorgeous blue dapple gray 8 yr old gelding that has a 93 SI, well started on barrels by a former world champion, NFR qualifier, that she really needs to sell.  He's just standing out in the pasture because she's so busy with her kids....Gentle, gentle...he's by Behold a Beduino out of a Moon Lark mare...won over $8000 on the track.  If anyone is interested, PM me or email me at [email protected] and I can send you pics and performance summary, price and other details.

Hey Pam, Ruggard Lark is not at all related to Moon Lark. His Lark comes from a Leo bred stud Leolark. Moon Lark's Lark comes from the Thoroughbred Lanolark.

P.S. Dr. Randall says hello.

I had an own son of Moon Lark that was gorgeous and had a SI of 108.   He had a 35 SI brain!!! - The lady that owns Texas Moon Lark does love him but doesn't want another one - she said Texas didn't get out of the round pen till he was 8.   An exaggeration I'm sure - but you get the idea.   I am sure they are great to cross Moon Lark mares on to something with brains but you couldn't give me another one.   I loved mine and gave him every opportunity until he could get for 5 years and finally gave up on him.   He had tons of ability and try and VERY little brains!!   I'm sure there are exceptions but I still don't want to take a chance.   BE CAREFUL!!!

Thanks for all the replies!  I am still kind of hung on what to do, (like I really need another one anyway) but I will definitely think about it.  The lady who owns her said that if she is not sold by her next cycle she's going to breed her and then her price will go up.   Breeding her to an own son of Sonny Dee Bar (that's what she told me) but I really don't want to buy a mare bred, especially not to something that I didn't get to pick.  But I guess we'll just see what happens!
