OK, I know we have had plenty of threads on this but I'm curious how many of you are doing the Weight Watchers flex points plan.  My mom (54) has lost 35 lbs on it.  She had a stroke a couple of years ago, after a hysterectomy and A LOT of weight gain.  She is doing awesome.  If she can do it anyone can cause she never had to watch her weight till after the hysterectomy.  My sister that just had a baby has started it, and I started it this week and I am down 2 lbs and breaking my "stall" that I have been in for months now.

A gal that I work with is going it and she's down 20.5 lbs already after about 4 weeks. She's doing great. She eats her weight in carrots every day, while I sit here with my m&ms going "How can you eat those things??" Anyway, she's doing really really well on it. I tried it for about 3 hours one day and I'd already used up my 20 points by break time, so I decided that's not the thing for me! Good luck though! I've seen a lot of people have GREAT results with WW.

LOL, Molly, I only get 20 points too...  What a shocker that was.  I am lucky, I have been doing atkins so I don't have the craving for the sweets.  However, I did arrange my points so that I can have a scoop of vanilla ice cream with 5 mini oreos crushed into it at night.  Ha HA

Does doing Atkins really take away the cravings for sweets? I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world.

I arranged my points so that I can have a half gallon of cookies and cream ice cream a few times a week. Diets are not my thing....Good luck! I know how fast 20 points goes. And zero point stuff is not delicious, I don't care what anybody says. I'm trying to develop 0 point cookies and 0 point pizza. I'll let you know how I do...

I did give up sweets for Lent and I did pretty good, actually. Then on Easter Sunday, a friend and I took some mares up to OK to get bred and I had 2 pops, a bag of licorice, a bag of Cheetos, and we ate fast food 2x. I was so sick by the time we got home that night that I really just wanted to lay on the ground and die. Luckily, I've got my system operating on enormous quantities of sugar again. It just took a little retraining!

No, not weight watchers, but I am getting into shape to take this sport seriously. I have gotten out my gazelle and my elliptical (which I've had about three years and can count the times I've been on it), and husband bought a ab scissor against my wishes, and now I am making schedules so I can do that three times a week, cardio three times a week and upping my riding hours on the horses, so they will get into better shape as well.

Someone said something about women being overweight and trying to ride, well, I don't show my weight much but I am and that is one of the things I vowed to take care of if I was going to do this...... so here's hoping I can stick to it....

BTW - 2-3 cups of Kettle Corn is only 1 point !!!

Sounds like too much work for me.

I am doing the Advocare diet. It works, it got me off a life time Dr. Pepper addiction. lol Plus has given me the energy to do something besides sleep. I'm now able to come home from work and ride.

Yes, Atkins really did reduce my craving for sweets.  But, the longer I was on it, the more easier it was for me to grab the big double whopper without the bun and do so in the name of Atkins.  ha ha  It was time for a change because yes, some fat is good but not the way I was doing it.

I am only 5"2 and I hide my weight well too...  However, I have to lose at least 15 lbs.  I am totally determined my horse will run faster.  ha ha

I am an Advocare distributor.  (Unless my fee period is up...  gee, I should check ha ha)   I have tried it and tried it and I just can't do it.  No matter what I take or try to take, I feel like hurling for the whole day.  I do like a few of their products though.  LMAO...  However, I do know a few people who have had a lot of success with this and that is great for them.

So far, I am liking this Weight Watchers thing.  At least now I can eat what I cook for my family.  They are glad too.

Ok RideNSlide, I have a question for you...

Have you ever been at a stalling point with Atkins?  I admit I messed up and have fell victim to Sugar.  I am back at the no carb thing but it seems like its harder after that initial startup.  Adding Carbs to my diet is like NOT Good!

Its like this diet is fighting me!

I'm doing it secretly. I'm not going to meetings, but keeping track of points and stuff. I've lost 20 since Jan. I want to lose 8 more and I'll be at 150. That's my goal weight, but I'll probably go for 145, so I can gain back 5 lbs and be happy!!

I did Weight Watchers from Sept. 2002 until March 2003, and lost 27 pounds.  I am only 5 feet tall, so it made a BIG difference.  I pretty much kept it off until here lately, and now I have gained back about 8 pounds.  I guess I need to start going to the meetings again.  I was doing it with 2 other teachers, and we ate lunch together, so it helped.  My husband was also very supportive, and he and my son ate whatever I fixed.  You really can eat a lot of food on WW.  It is the only one that works for me, now that I am past 45!

I loved the ease and convenience of Atkins but I felt exactly like you do.  It worked great for the first 9 or 10 lbs.  Then I got to a stall that I never could seem to get out of.  I was at that stall most of the fall and all winter.  I followed atkins really good for quite awhile and then I started adding the carbs, etc...  then I would bounce around, then do it some more.  I just wasn't ever truly satisfied with it I guess.  And, I may get flamed for this but I did feel and noticed that the fat I was eating was going places it shouldn't.  I am a moderately active person in the winter and I am not a huge eater by nature.  I just got really frustrated with it.  I do think a person should eat good carbs vs. bad but I also think fat in moderation is a good thing too.  JMO

I am doing the exact same thing.  My mom is going to meetings, etc...  my sister signed up online.  I ordered my stuff off of the internet and I get enough feedback from them that I don't feel I am missing anything.   Good Luck...  sounds like you are doing well so far....  I want to lose 20 -25 lbs.  If I get there, I will weigh what I weighed in HS.  I am 34.  My horse will not know how to act!  ha ha

I have heard that. Don't know if it is true, but you don't see any jockeys weighing in heavy. I am taking this into consideration, and am working on my weight. I have lost ten lbs by exercise and watching my fats. I know my horse is running better and I am riding better. Still have about 12 to go. This getting old s*cks as the weight does not want to come off.

Sharon, I think I have heard something along those lines in another post on here.  Hope it's true!
